*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

I miss the '42 arty tank where you had to get a scout to range in the rounds. Such great innovation, sadly lacking in future games.

Yup, all dumbed down in games now. The tech evolves but the gameplay gets lobotomised. Used to love using a submarine and attacking destroyers that were hammering capture zones with their artillery. Can't have that these days, static carrier and some crap little gunboats and that's your lot.

less vehicles the better for me its all about the infantry

Not invulnerable helicopters and planes

Every time one of them dies they flood twitter and forums with calls for a nerf and dice obliged every single time

The games not about infantry, it's about combined arms infantry and vehicles.

Then maybe BF isn't for you? It's a battlefield in essence, it's a blend of everything in on.

I see, personally I love big open battles, oddly I hate Battle royal style games. I think it's because I play very diverse, and have done in all BF's, never played Eagle but Squad is up there too. For me, I like to see what is killing us on the battlefield and change to counter it. If it's an even fight, sniping is where my heart lies, or medic. I'm very bad at flying, but consider my self ok with land vehicles.

I love playing in a squad and my preferred role is recon so mid to close range sniping mostly with a two times or a good flip up

Find it very frustrating that they are sticking to a four man squad one more body doesn't sound much but it massively improves the squad dynamic

Agreed on the squad count, 5 is the ideal amount. Specially on a 128 player map!

Four player squads means a minimum of 16 squads on each side, assuming they have auto squad entry. Given many will want to lock their squads or lock them with only one or two people you could end up with twenty squads or more on each side. That’ll be a big list to scroll through. Sounds unwieldy.

It was about that, for years its been vehicle stomp & last decent battlefield was 3.

A matter of opinion, bf3 had plenty of issues with helicopters hanging about the map boundaries spamming tv missiles and a moronic system that inexplicably had the pilot and gunner trading countermeasures making them stupidly hard to take down.

I’ve yet to see a bf game that’s a vehicle stomp, there’s plenty of counters to them via land, sea and air. People generally just seem to get pissy if they get taken out by a vehicle, some players these days seem to want battlefield to be nothing more than a cod clone and do away with vehicles altogether.

Not really, not any more. BF5 is just a circle jerk of the Zerg rushing around the map and the capture merry go round.

BF5 is the closest to COD gameplay that the series has ever been imo, at least as far as the infantry gameplay is concerned.

.

Been that for quite some time with the ring around the roses captureathon. Personally I think it should take more than 1 person to trigger a capture. Maybe 3 or 4 at least. Otherwise you just get the same routine where 1 guy who has wedged himself into a random area can contest a flag.

Yep, some of the map designs are also abysmal with huge capture areas so one person can just camp in a hole somewhere. Unless you've got a spotting flare good luck to finding them.
