*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

Frostbite engine also has a lot of inherent bugs that seem to go along for the ride with every iteration of the engine, there's a story on kitguru about the next mass effect potentially using unreal engine due to frostbite not being "flexible".

Hearsay, an engine cant be inflexible.
You modify the engine to suit what you want it to do.
Like you know BF2042 physics as an example

Something like physics is most likely already part of the engine and can be changed, they must have their reasons for not wanting to use frostbite.

Imagine assigning the resources to third person melee kills then seeing the community demand the original. Poor guy, but as they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Dice trying to be more cinematic for some reason, people don't like having control taken away from them for these gimmicky animations. I noticed in some of the leaked footage that animations for entering vehicles seemed to be mia as well.

Has there been a beta?

Any one played it with a 5600x?

What was the experience?

I just bought a 5600x and seeing CPU usage of 80% on YouTube in BFV has me concerned for this somewhat with the doubling of the player count.

Are the gold/ultimate versions worth it this time round?, it's a massive jump in price over the original game.

Are any maps unaccessible this time round like with BF4 if you don't buy ultimate?

Also where are you guys buying your game keys from if that is allowed to be discussed here.

Also to add in and might be too early to ask but I have a 3700x and play at 1440p. Would there be much to any real benefit of going to a 5800x for this, I'm doubting it and can't really afford a CPU/mobo upgrade right now but planning for down the line. Really I'm waiting for next gen Ryzen chips coming out in all honesty.

Cheers in advance

The Gold version seems best value to me and that's what I've ordered. It includes the first year of content drops but none of the cosmetics and other frippery that the ultimate comes with.

Regarding your CPU it's certainly not a bad chip, I'd wait until the Beta and see how it plays for you. It's expected to be the 23rd and 24th with some earlier days for preorders and Streamers and media.

Not played 2042 but when I played BFV last my cpu usage was nowhere near 80% with my 5600x. My 4790k that I had previously used to be ~85%. I'm sure my 5600x was in the forties but I'll double check tonight if I remember.

Thanks, where did you order from?

Cheers. This is important information. :)

Edit - Very important information because it will put my mind at rest that the 5600x will still have some legs left for future titles especially BF 2042.

Might not alleviate your concerns too much, but I never felt like BF5 was ever close to using that sort of CPU utilisation tracked via Afterburner with my 5600x. 40% sounds about right IIRC.

Can't 100% confirm as I binned that game off and have no desire to download it again :p

Thanks all the same.
