*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

I kind of get the point though but when has BF really stayed true to history.

Can we all just go back to the days of BF2 without the constant BS

That's pretty much where i stand on it, if bf1 was true to history probably 50%+ of the weapons in it wouldn't be in it. People are acting like this is some kind of precedent they're setting for the franchise going outside the boundaries of making it true to history, when its anything but.

I would prefer the character models were a bit more authentic but it's not going to stop me playing the game. I could be wrong but the ridiculous models seem to be MP only and the campaign is bit more authentic.

Hard to say currently, the trailer we seen to me looks like a sp mission, suppose it depends on how much customisation is allowed in mp. ww2 soldiers did customise their gear to an extent, just hope they don't go overboard.

You mean WW2 soldiers didn't cut off their hands and replace it with a claw to look cool? :D

Yeah it's all conjecture at this point.

While there weren't many women in the army its true there were hundreds working in the resistance during the war. I don't have an issue with it personally. I will likely play as her or a female if the option exists in MP just for the salt and false assumptions. I do in The Division!

The thing is if they're ditching premium and dlc's then they will probably go crazy with the customisation to generate as much money as they can. It worries me that after 6 months everyone's running around looking like half robotic punks with medieval melee weapons and pink heart-shaped sunglasses... I really hope not, but there's only so much you can do with grey, brown & green camouflage.

Undecided about this. Barely played BF1, really didn't do it for me. Much more of a WW2 person but that depends how daft they get with it. I don't mind seeing less common weapons like a Thompson being used more for game play reasons but I like at least an attempt at historical accuracy. Sadly too many people get their idea of history from sources like this and Hollywood "faction" films rewriting history. Saw some kids interviewed recently and didn't even know who Hitler was!

That said the game play changes sound like an improvement and I'll wait to see what reception it get by real users before jumping in.

I do not see why people are getting all angry about the woman. There was a woman story line in BF1. This will most likely be the same. I do agree including women in a front line setting would be wrong from a British persective. While telling a few lies with regards to prototype weapons you can get away with. Retelling history in the wrong way they shouldn't.

As for the claw arm. My grandad fought with someone in Burma with a peg leg.

No one really cares about women being in it or disabilities. There is however an agenda being pushed by corporates because it looks good to say they're inclusive.

In the same way the media will discuss an issue where 99% can be in favour but they also present an opposing view as if the issue were a 50:50 split. Most views should get an airing (maybe not some of the extremes) but they need to have context.

I've seen how the press can misrepresent people first hand

Tl;dr there are large public and private concerns who do have agendas and will distort the truth for political or financial gain. The young are always the prime target, religions and politicians know this!

It isn't just a game it is also a tool to change opinions and influence others. You seem to have the awareness to realise this but many don't. EA should stick to making fun games and leave the politics out of it.

From the promo material the game looks more 'modern' than BF1.

Like it's set in current times but in a WW2 universe. Even the tank designs look very modern.

I'm excited. As much as I liked playing BF1 I haven't really got on with it.

Performance is all over the place and the gun play also isn't great.
