The Official Bioshock is overrated thread :)

In my opinion, of course:
Halo is an 'accomplished' brand. The second one is just, a bit more of it. The third one? People will buy it just because it's got halo written on the box.
Even if every review gave it 3/10, there would be people buying it. If they didn't write "halo" on the box and it got 3/10 from everywhere, would there be as many people buying it?
Of course that's in theory - the game isn't going to get 3/10, bunjee are more clever than that
But the point is, people will buy it just for the name. It's like Adidas clothing out selling other clothing - people will feel safe buying it just because of its name.
But "Bioshock", people who don't visit forums like this, they won't be caught up in the hype. There isn't a huge marketing campaign behind it and there isn't an established brand behind it. And people aren't used to it.
Now I didn't like Halo, but I'm trying hard not to be biased here and I'm putting the fact I didn't enjoy the game to one side. However, I'm still sure that Halo 3 will be a very good game - but as far as games go, I'd be really surprised if it accomplished anything more than Bioshock - but that's my opinion and I'll wait before making snap judgements

I just realised...why am i wasting my time in this thread? The people here that apparently dislike this game are spending a whole lot of time talking about it..trying to convince others it's no good. However, this thread will disappear very quickly come the release date.
If you want your run of the mill FPS with tacked on multiplayer go and buy FEAR or Prey or whatever. I'm actually glad that a company has decided to concentrate on the single player, story side of a game rather than rush in an online element to it - there's only so much deathmatch, CTF and team deathmatch some people can take - every damn FPS seems to have it, hardly any are worth their salt. I'm so very glad the Bioshock dev team aren't as close minded as you lot when it comes to making games, else we'd have the same old tripe on the shelves all the time.

Lots of people comparing bioshock to halo 3... Firstly halo 3 wins that battle hands down because of the awesome multiplayer, would I rather buy a game that lasts 10ish hours or one that I can play for hours every day AND have and epic (unknown yet how epic lol) single player.

Calm yourself Tried and tested, there is 3 or 4 threads on the 1st page all praising bioshock and with all the positive reviews, cant you understand that some people are dissapointed with the game, it might stand out a bit more since it is Bioshock.

People are voicing opinions, not trying to convince others its a bad game, most of the arguement is about people on both sides not accepting the other sides opinions etc, and certain people saying WELL IN THE MAGAZINES LIKE IT YOU MUST BE WRONG kinda thing..
Since when did everyone swear by magazine ratings? Its an opinion, nothing more..

would you rather the people who wernt so keen on it sat in the bioshock thread voicing there opinions, stirring up arguements.
Maybe you lot should head on over back there, if you dont think bioshock is overrated..
That would be the mature thing to do, the OP used his head and made a thread which should have taken the dispute away from bioshock threads, instead the fanboys came into it and started spitting dummys out.
From what iv seen/read etc it looks to be one of those games im not keen on, so i think its overrated, i came here expecting to find out a bit more to see why so many other people think its overated, as the features which people are raving about just dont really strike me as being great..

Does it matter if they have been done before, maybe they arent completely original just tweaked ideas, changing parts to make it more exciting etc. etc. If its a fun game, then its a fun game. period.
