Just out of interest, which past middleweight champs would you say were as good or better than GGG, out of say Chris Eubanks Sr, Nigel Benn, Sugar Ray Leonard, Alan Minter?

These two far better than those mentioned above:

Marvelous Marvin Hagler

Sugar Ray Robinson - The greatest boxer ever to walk this planet.

That's astonishing considering what happened to Nick Blackwell, even more so considering what happened to Watson.

The sooner someone smashes his head in and leaves him crawling around the canvas like a slug the better.

Scorecard from Saturday's fight:

My tv reception for the fight wasn't great so I can't argue too hard either way. A bit surprised to see Brook getting round 4 on two cards, though - got banged up at the end of that round.

I wouldn't have been surprised to see him win all of the rounds considering how smart he was boxing and how little Golovkin moved his head. The punches obviously weren't hurting him and he knew he could walk through them but they all still scored.

As I say, I didn't see enough of it to make a good judgement. Compubox stats look to be fairly well weighted toward GGG, though.

I mean, round 1 Brook got it on two of the three cards, but GGG landed 50% more punches.

Obvs Compubox is a bit of a dry analysis, not much nuance, but it does stand out.

I think now that Boxnation has a separate box office PPV channel which will be accessible to all Sky customers for one off events the BJS vs GGG match will be made. Apparently negotiations fell through last time due to box office numbers and BJS wanting something silly for the fight.

It may be a push but if they can fit Jacobs in in December then they could look to unify against BJS in March.

Just watched canelo and smith weigh in

Canello had to strip his boxers off to make weight

Both bang on 154 tho. Smith looks good canello looked washed out against Mayweather the last time he dropped to 154

Fancy smith on points

Canelo had to drop down to around 151/152 when he fought Mayweather. He can barely make the 154 now, I reckon he'll stop trying within the next 12 months and he'll move up to 160.

Brook in many ways exposed GGG to the fact that he is there to be hit and to be out boxed. Opponents now seem a lot more open to fighting Golovkin but who knows, it could all be talk.

Good luck tonight Smith, hope you put Canelo on his back side.

So eubanks jr has vacated the british belt and pulled out of his fight with Langford due to an elbow injury sustained sparring with a cruiserweight the other day

Bet any money in the next week - 2 weeks a big fight is announced.

Saunders rematch on oct 29th anyone?
