To be fair he looked gone and was taking a few big shots. He recovered remarkably after the ref waved it off but he did look in big trouble and you can understand the ref stopping it.

I've never seen a fight stopped that quickly, at least let him go down or take a few unanswered punches without reply. He had his gloves up and was able to protect himself

I don't know. It reminded me of Price - Povetkin before Povetkin landed that last punch. He looked completely gone and didn't know where he was - it was set-up for Price to land one massive punch which could have seriously hurt him. The ref definitely erred on the side of caution but it's better that than to step in too late.
