Oooh, its nice in here (first time in boxing thread :D )

Not a massive boxing fan since Tyson days but noticed the hype for this fight. So I looked into it. Apparently its a pro fight from what I have read about it, not an exhibition fight, but I can't help feel its been staged for a draw. Also, Tyson looks huge/ripped, as in bigger than his prime from some training pictures I have seen. Maybe its just that it was training and everything is all pumped up. Dunno.
Anyway, looking forward to watching it. Fingers crossed for a 1st round KO by Tyson. Can't stand that Youtuber bloke.

I think it's a pretty sad state of affairs that this has been allowed to happen, even after the health issues that Tyson has had in the build up. No doubt there's all sorts of dodgy stuff written up in the contracts to try and make it more of a show, I'd read one that it was rumoured that the longer the fight went, the more money Tyson would be rewarded in his purse etc.

I'd love for him to go out and end it one round and put this silly Youtube stuff to bed, but I can see this being a pretty depressing watch of an old legend being humiliated by knockout. It ain't his stamina, power or hunger that has me worried, it's his chin. He's been out of the ring for so long that he's probably not anywhere near conditioned physically/mentally to take a shot like he used to, only have to look at what happened to Holyfield to see what is potentially coming.

Tyson even at 57 is still an animal, his foot work and power is still something to be reckoned with.

They all look like animals on the pads and in training,

In the ring on the night, I can't see Tyson going more than 30-40 seconds before gassing out.

Father time waits for nobody.

I hope I'm wrong and Tyson knocks Paul's brain out of his skull, but I can't see it.

True, they do look like animals.

Jake Paul looks like a fluffy kitten
Tyson is a Royal Bengal Tiger.

Okay.

But look at Tyson's last fight against Kevin Mcbride - almost 20 years ago, he fell over exhausted in round 6 and got pulled out.

Okay.

But look at Tyson's last fight against Kevin Mcbride - almost 20 years ago, he fell over exhausted in round 6 and got pulled out.

He was ahead on points for most of the match, until he lost his tember and head butted McBride who loved to cuddle rather than actually fight.

McBride shoved him in the 6th round, which is why he ended up on the floor, the ref ruled that a slip rather than a knock down. He would have won the round on points, but because of the headbutt was given a 2 point deduction putting McBride in the lead. Tyson was at a disadvantage though as McBride was 7 inches taller and 20kg heavier, Tyson and Paul are evenly matched with only a couple inches difference but they are roughly the same weight. It's only age that separates them.

i hope I’m wrong but there’s just no way Paul doesn’t win. As average as he is, he’s a big lad with half decent power who’s spent a lot of time and money trying to get better. Then he’s fighting virtually a 60year old man, who’s chin and cardio won’t be the same sad state of affairs easy night for Paul.

Brutal truth.

I think one thing that people don't account for, is that the way Tyson fights is extremely high-energy, bopping and weaving like a pendulum, crouching low, throwing hooks and uppercuts really fast in close with all of the holding - that's hard to do in your 20s let alone when you're almost 60 against someone in their 20s...

I just don't think he'll be able to do it, he'll likely come in - try to hold, get tired - get hit with shots, get frustrated and exhausted and either quit, get pulled out or knocked out.

I think Tyson is simply doing it because he needs the ole' bunsen burner.. Sad really..

Paul did lose to Tommy Fury though, so even a slow, old Tyson could trouble him if it was a proper fight, which it isn't.

There's probably a no KO clause.

Tyson also is pretty physically gifted, he looked good against Jones but then Jones is old too.

Literally the only thing going for Paul is his age.

Not even sure why we're discussing it in this thread, which is about proper boxing, there's a thread for it where it belongs in the TV section.

Well, only if you think this is even halfway approaching something resembling a genuine contest and not just a money grabbing exercise in abject nonsense.

A 27 year old vs a 58 year old.

It's so glaringly not a serious/genuine contest, it would seem Jake Paul likes fighting older people.

His only fight today vs a professional boxer was a loss against Tommy Fury, and Tommy Fury isn't even that great. He has never fought anyone with significant experience or even someone his age or younger.
