Fair enough but as he said why would you then fight a meaningless fight against Chisora if you had a long running injury. It’s exactly why Usyk decided not to go straight in with Fury, it would’ve made much more sense for Fury to do the same would it not? Instead he’s got his excuses in early.

Fury needed a tune up at that stage of being out of the ring. He had 2 rounds in about 18 months.

He’s only fighting a middleweight remember, easy fight for him he reckons. But besides that he chose a pretty easy fight for a tuneup why did he need to bring up injuries after it. You’re either carrying injuries or not. If you are, fighting Chisora was kind of silly really. If he needs surgery he’ll be out for a while and need yet another tuneup.

He needs to sign that contract otherwise mandatories will be called.

Edit: he fought Whyte in April so he should’ve been fine really.

If he will have operation like he said and out for 6 weeks so its still long time to train for Usyk. March is achievable.

6-8 weeks which could have been done after the Whyte fight, he could live still had his sparring session with Chisora and had the Usyk fight signed, sealed and delivered. Instead we’ve got excuses and uncertainty on whether the fight actually takes place.

So 6-8 weeks for surgery takes you to February, 8 week training camp takes you to April. Ramadan begins March 22nd and Usyk will not be fighting during Ramadan. Result is IF Fury is actually telling the truth for once and does need surgery, he likely won’t be ready to fight before Ramadan.

"Everybody is on board. Queensberry promotions is on board, Usyk’s team is and Usyk is as well. Our partners in the Middle East are ready and willing to host this fight. The only thing that is still pending is the consent of a tall, bald, gypsy man to get beaten. That’s it," Krassyuk told Betfred.

“We’re looking at Saudi Arabia most likely. We have a timeslot between February 18 and March 4 2023 in our mind to book this fight. It all depends on how it’s going to finish on Saturday, because even if Fury comes through the winner against Chisora, he may be injured or have some broken bones that may mean a longer wait for the undisputed fight.

“If something does go wrong then we’re probably going to look at the mandatories we have and Daniel Dubois is the first in line.”

Just watching good morning britain and they sre interviewing Fury about the fight on Saturday. Thats the first i’ve heard about it, im a casual boxing fan but i usually hear about big fights well in advance. Was this a lower key fight or has my social media gone awol(follow a few boxing related accounts)

It wasn't a big fight. Not even the biggest Fury stans cared about the bout. It was a giant nothing event.

Edit: In real boxing news. RIEP goes out to Mills Lane. One of the best referees to do it (plus gets my nod for playing himself in Celebrity Death Match... "LETS GET IT ON")

Quite a few good fights coming up over the next few weeks/months.

Inoue vs Butler, Crawford vs Avanesyan, Eubank Jr vs Smith, Tank vs (not Ryan) Garcia, Yarde vs Beterbiev and probably a few more I'm forgetting.
