Anyone made a similar move? Any thoughts around the warranty on more expensive phones?

You can't really have it all. If you want the best camera, you really do need to get a Samsung, iPhone or Pixel.

If you want a decent/good camera, you can get very nice results with a Chinese phone. Especially if you unlock the bootloader and install Gcam.

You won't get the warranty though. There's always a but.

Thanks for your responses w/r my original post.

Completely understand I can't get it all - I had wrongly assumed that the camera tech found in my old s6 would maybe be similar to that found in newer, cheaper chinese phones.

I saw that deal on HUKD, I was almost ready to buy until I read about the mediocre battery life. Not sure what I'm going to do at this point, the Oneplus 6 looks decent although some questions around the camera.

Let me know if you have problems making and receiving calls. I've got an annoying problem where I sometimes can't hear people when my phone rings and if I hang up and phone then back they can't hear me. I have to restart the phone to get calls working.

I don't know if it's the phone (I have MI5 too), lineage, or my SIM card. What SIM slot is yours in?
 
Got my Note 5 yesterday and have been enjoying it bar one annoyance. I can not find a way to change the size of the clock on the lock screen. Everything I've read so far points to you having to change theme but 'themes aren't supported in your region' apparently.

Themes app isn't available for European users due to copyright issues, you will need to switch your region to something like Hong Kong but you can switch back the region after applying the theme.
 
Finally ordered my Mi Mix 2s. I couldn't justify the price hike for the Mi8 Explorer edition, plus I really want to head back to wireless charging.

Let's see how long it takes to get here!

Quoting my own post but anyone else using Lineage and experiencing the same? It's getting rather annoying now. Don't have another phone to test my SIM in but guess I could flash MIUI onto it again to rule it out being hardware of software.
 
Just went to download latest MIUI global rom and the downloads part seems to have completely gone? Saw a post on their forum saying there was expected downtime but that was a few days ago. Must still be down. Guess I'm stuck with Lineage till it's back online.

My colleague in China has just got a Mi Mix 2S, it's a really nice phone from what I can see.
 
MIUI download page still down. Wonder what's going on. Presumably people's phone's aren't updating either?
