**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Is the back plastic? I hear conflicting info that states it's just top and bottom and others saying its the whole back central piece.

DId yours come with a clear skin type case this is another thing I heard some people get them others do not?

How you finding the speed I know the Mi A1 had really bad lag after awhile which has not been fixed also had issue with when you touch some areas like text to say select to delete a letter it would register it.

I like Miui myself it's a shame they don't allow you to install it on this phone I know some will say well you can get Redmi 6 which is same phone with Miui but it has no b20 support and is hard to get hold of also it's better to have the option isn't that suppose to be the point of these.
As far as I can tell it's just the top and bottom that are plastic, the central part certainly looks and feels metallic to me.

I can't see how anyone ordering this mobile wouldn't get a clear skin type case (I used mine until I purchased another more protective one). It's part of the packaging and in the box, mine was still sealed and I was comforted to see the red "Global Version" sign on the side of the box, like I'd seen in unboxing videos. 4G works a treat with my o2 sim so it has band 20 which my Redmi 3s didn't.

This is a bit contradictory now but despite the fact that I like and bought it for Android One and prompt updates, I have to admit that part of me misses MIUI myself, I personally liked it too; my Redmi 3s was resolutely stuck on April 2017 security patch though and Xiaomi don't look like they are going to update it. I'm happy with what I have chosen though, it's a good, solid mobile, bigger screen, faster processor, more storage, with 4000mah battery and Android One to boot, all for about a 1cm increase in height compared to my Redmi 3s.

The speed is a little hard for me to comment on as it generally seems much faster to me than my old mobile, so I was always going to be impressed with it, I've not seen any lag or touch issues that sound like what happened with the MI A1, I have only had the mobile for 12 days though.

HTH

I went and ordered one from eglobalcentraluk had offer on 4gb/64gb £156 no messing about with long wait times or customs.

Which case did you buy? and are you using glass screen protector?

Yep, I did. It's another good Xiaomi buy from me. My previous mobile over the last 2 years has been a Redmi 3s Prime and that one is still working fine, I gave it to a friend who had just broken his windows phone.

This one is much as I had expected, stock android (already got the August (July) security update), faster than my 3s as it has the SD625 as opposed to the SD430 processor, excellent battery life, everything I wanted really. The only criticism I could lay at it is that the adaptive brightness was too aggressive, I think it was defaulting to 50% brightness but it was dull and hard to see especially in low light, I've wacked it up to 80% and it is much better; adaptive off and it's bright as hell so I've kept it on.

I paid £161 for my 4GB/64GB version, then a week later the 3GB/32GB version was up for sale at £131, I would have had that if I could as it would have been plenty enough for me, don't give a monkeys about not having NFC and only being MicroUSB charging, it's fair to say that will bother some though like android pay users...

Any questions just ask away but I'm not a heavy user and don't game on my mobile, just YouTube and other standard stuff...

Sounds good i really wanna get the 6gb ram 128gb rom version of the mi a2 !

My purchase with them went very well, I ordered on the Saturday evening and the MI A2 Lite arrived on the Friday morning by UPS, still sealed and well packaged. I hope you get yours soon. Screen protector no, I don't bother with them, didn't bother with one on my Redmi 3s. I have bought a case though, similar style to one I had on my old mobile, doesn't attract finger prints and very protective - it does add bulk though, search the rainforest for this ASIN - B07DXH51CV

It's a lot of mobile for £230, you're spoilt for choice though in this price range, a bit too big for me though, I think the lite version I have is at the upper limit of what I am comfortable with.

Just picked up a Honor 9 Lite and looks/feels good so far. One question though - how do I change the wallpaper to use one of my photos? I've looked in the settings and can't find any options that lets me choose to pick from my own photos.

FOUND IT!! Might help someone else looking to use their own photos as wallpaper. You have to use the Themes App, customise, home screen wallpaper, me then select more.

Hello all how does one get emails to sync proper? I don't use battery saver. I'm not sure which setting to change any ideas?

Cheers

Looking at grabbing something cheap to move on from my MotoG5 3GB 16GB which is struggling with storage space mostly. The lack of Compass has also annoyed me. Was looking at the Redmi Note 5, but wondering if there is anything similar size to the Moto. Got a G6 for work and it's noticably bigger, less easy to hold/operate with one hand.

I received Mi A2 yesterday so had a day to use it and these bits stand out

The Notification led is at the bottom not fan of this and it appears to only be white.
I Don't like this version of android it is missing so much it almost feels like some super cut down version with so many features missing cant even transfer all my stuff from old phone which had Miui on.
That notch is not great who came out with that first it looks stupid.
I am finding the gps is off by fair bit 50+ meters.

For the price is does feel well made and I know some people have said the screen is not that great I disagree for this price point it is very good.
If this phone had brand like Samsung/Sony etc I could see it easily retail for around £300
The camera has impressed me as well every shot i have taken looks fine

I can see what you mean about things missing, it does feel very stripped down. I used to have my LED red for messages, green for calls and blue for everything else on my previous mobile. I don't know how or whether you will adjust but I have if that is any comfort?

One other mobile that I was looking at that they have was the Redmi 6 (slightly smaller screen/body and lower resolution), it would have given me MIUI, Oreo 8.1 with 4GB ram and 64GB storage with MicroSd card slot and it also seems to have all the bands for the UK, it does run a Helio P22 though, I'm sure it would have been fine for me, but then I would have been in the situation of virtually no security or OS updates! I'm happy with my choice like I have said previously though :)

Hope you get used to it...

The OS is way too stripped down which is nice option to have but it's not really an option because they don't offer anything else.

I was the same using different colour which I can deal with i really dislike the position bottom left that is odd.

Most annoying is how I cant just transfer all my stuff with miui its easy you can send it all across to new phone with this I guess I will have to find some software to do it or even multi ones. (even my app data has been lost i thought google was suppose to back that up)

It doesn't look like theirs a community for this phone so not even any mods or custom firmware's and miui has no plans for official release

Surely that is the whole point of the A2 (like the A1). It is running stock Android. By definition it doesn't have all the extras that the different companies add, on top of that, to make their flavour of Android for their phones.

if you wanted a phone with bells and whistles at the OS level then you should have got something else or be prepared to find other software which does what you want and add it on top yourself.

You bought an Android One phone...

Should've got the Redmi 6 Pro if you wanted the same hardware with MIUI, although I suspect you can probably flash the rom onto it with an unlocked bootloader.

Is anyone rocking the Mi Mix 2s as their daily driver?

Something's drawing me to it...

Should I be looking at the Global Version? If so, is this compatible with Google Pay and the various Banking Apps (heard something regarding an unlocked bootloader making it incompatible)

Also, if you do have one - Are you're allowed to say the best place to get it?

Thanks.

Doesn't support b20 and is very hard to get hold of due to it is only produced for one area which is China so only Chinese rom also more expensive.

No you can't flash it people have tried Android One uses different partition layout so the phone gets bricked (few people did get around this but it doesn't work right)

have you used Android One that is on this phone? it is missing so many simple things you can't even organize your contacts by source or merge them so as in my case you end up with same contact multi times. (Yes I know could mess about getting a separate app but come on)

Has mine a while, got it from Aliexpress, no issues with NFC (via google pay) My natwest and tesco bank apps work perfectly
