**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Just ordered a Redmi Note 5... Is there anything I need to consider when setting up for the first time? There's mention of having the latest ROM... Is this something that's done automatically or manually? Thanks!
 
Anyone had any experience of the Chinese version of the Vivo Nex S in the UK? Been offered a very competitive deal (£200 under international version cost) but worried about the hassle using a Chinese handset could cause. It will be my daily phone and I don’t want the hassle of downloading apks and manually updating apps. Am I worrying about nothing?
 
I just stumbled upon the mi max 3 on the aliexpress site. After my redmi note 5 arrives and if i am pleased with the sd636 performance i may buy this just for jokes. Looks ridiculously big and only £190. Does anyone have one already?
 
The Redmi Note 6 Pro is out but not sure if the global version is out? Also doesn't look like much of an upgrade... In fact, it's performed worse on some of the tests it seems.

Has a notch and USB-C.
 
I ordered 2nd oct from ali express....arrived in uk 20th....still awaiting to clear customs lol (redmi note 5)
In the meantime seeing how long it takes....i also ordered a mi max 3 lol. (leaving singapore now.)
I'll keep you updated and any customs charges i'll face.

Interesting phone, notch free is a definitely plus - having had a Pocophone for a while now the notch is annoying. Sliding mechanism must add some bulk though I guess, will check the reviews. Amoled and no bezels it's impressive.
 
My phone finally arrived. I paid a £12 fee. :( Like said earlier, declared value was something like $45. £8 handling and £4 customs fee for my Redmi Note 5 pro.
Just waiting for my max3 to arrive now :D

I ordered one from Mi GLobal last week, was just under £500 delivered but won't ship till the 1st. Interestingly enough I hear there might be a U.K launch of the Mix 3 as Xiaomi enter the market officially with their store opening .

Actually the UK Mix 3 launch was suggested by gsmarena, in fact it might actually be the Mi 8

Has anyone got a link to install gapps?

I had to reset my find x and now when I try to install google play I get
"download and install google services framework error, please try again later" this is at 96% download every time Grrrrrr
