Thinking of picking up a Pocophone which is £230ish from Aliexpress - here. How likely will I be hit with tax or should I pay £40 more from eglobal?

Most Aliexpress sellers under declare the value on the declaration form so it is best to message them and ask them how much they declare so you can work out how much tax you will need to pay.Thinking of picking up a Pocophone which is £230ish from Aliexpress - here. No customs or import charges from Eglobalcentral or places like Toby deals.Yes, but does eglobal pay VAT? i don't think they do
AliExpress is the most likely big seller for taxes from what I've read.
Hi All. Like many people I'm fed up with the price of top end phones and after looking at a friends xiaomi mi mix 2s today I'm thinking I may go down the chinese route to replace my current S7.
I was just wondering what people recommend as the best place to buy, and why. Gearbest were suggested to me but looking through the last couple of pages on here people seem to quite like eglobal. So just keen to know where the best and most reliable places are to look.
Sorry, sure this has been asked before but its a long thread and always good to get up to date advice.
I got my pocophone from Tobydeals and apart from shipping being slow (just under 10 days ish) and wonky tracking, their prices were good and I got a UK charger/no taxes.
Xiaomi have had some good discounts on the Mix 2S recently (I guess to try and clear stock for the impending Mix 3).
My wife saw this bought me the 128gb version and wireless charger for my birthday, as the Mi5 had started to show signs of battery doom.
Chinese ROM and added Play Store to it, excellent performance boost over the previous handset. Camera quality is much better, and is a nice device to hold.
It'll take some time getting used to the rear fingerprint unlock though, and no IR blaster!
No headphone jack might get annoying sometimes, but I typically use Bluetooth headphones, with the better ones reserved for home use.
If you're on the fence, and can get a solid discount like we got, I recommend it.
The Mi Mix 2S is available in Chinese or Global version, the Chinese version will have the Play Store sideloaded by the seller whereas the Global version will have Google services and Play Store installed by default on the ROM.Thanks, I've seen it for about £310 which seems great. Very tempted but may just hang on and see what the mix 3 offers with the announcement being so soon.
What do you mean re. the Chinese ROM and play store. I thought if I got a global version it would have the play store and I was good to go, or is there some messing about to do? Sorry, new to this.

I'm in China so not too interested in most of the Google stuff being on there. I prefer to have the China ROM and then I just install the necessary apks to get the Play Store on there.
I guess it depends what ROM yours would come with, but my past experience on flashing ROMs has been pretty painless with Xiaomi (aside from the wait to unlock the phone).
Without reading through the entire thread, anyone got a Xiaomi Mi A1? Just ordered one from Banggood for my son, seems like about the best spec for the price.
Anything need doing before he starts using it? Cheers.
I have one mate and it's a good phone, the rom is a bit boring but just works.
It's a pretty straightforward, bland phone tbh. Functional, doesn't excel at anything, camera is mediocre like most budget phone's. I came from a redmi note 3 pro and the m1a1 has a noticeablly shorter baťtery life.
It's a fine enough phone out of the box.
