**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Thank you, does anyone use gearbest? What is the best method for shipping when using these oversee suppliers and not get caught/billed for import tax?

Reviews for both eglobal and toby deals are very mixed. I know some on here have ordered from both and had no problems but it is something to be wary about and I've decided that for what I use a phone for, a Mi 9T Pro is overkill so now looking at the Note 8 Pro. Which ever site I go with I'll be ordering on credit card so should be covered if I get any problems.

@wijcc one thing to be cautious about Gearbest is that they have third party sellers like Amazon. I accidentally ordered from one of their sellers and managed to cancel order in time but it did take awhile to get the money back. Of the times I've ordered from them directly I've had no problems with their standard shipping.

What site/sellers are you guys using to order phones, looking to buy the xiaomi a3 or the note 8?

For my phone, albeit not one of the one's you're looking at, I purchased directly from the Realme website, cost me about £3 more than other places but was delivered within two days whereas the other sites were quoting delivery times of anywhere from a week to a couple of months.

Some of the reviews are silly like people moaning they had to wait a week before shipping which is how chinese companies operate.

Credit cards are hit a miss which I found annoying so at times forced to use the likes of PayPal.

The customer service for both is very poor if you have a problem with the phone down the road and they have written t&c so they don't need to cover a lot of stuff even now stating Xiaomi covers the warranty which when I contacted them about problems they state this seller is not authorized.

If everything goes perfect I would say yes they are ideal because you know you are not going to get any extra charges and the phone should arrive within 2 weeks also they sometimes are cheaper then some of the other chinese sellers who carry risk of being stopped by customs.

Toby and EGlobal are the same company funny how their prices are different sometimes by large margins even the stock can be different.

Not been impressed with GearBest terrible customer service and found if not using one of there EU locations very hit and miss about customs (small items no issues but larger value to risky)

A lot of Asia do not care about after service this is a problem for us in EU we are so used to having these warranties and rights regarding faults etc even if they claim to cover for set times they don't making it as hard as possible to get repairs or replacements, Aliexpress is the same had so many faulty parts from sellers their and you get screwed over.

Anyone else had their Huawei updated to android 10 and emui 10? My mate 20 pro did a few days ago. So far it seems fine. Just hoping it doesn't start to do the same as my other phones when they have updated in the past and start to lose battery life faster. Maybe that sounds odd as as each time android updates its meant to increase battery life but that has been my previous experience.

I ordered a mi9 from aliexpess a few weeks ago and it's not even been shipped yet. I did expect 6 weeks or so for delivery though so I'm in no rush.

Whilst waiting ive been looking at the future mi10 and think I'll be ordering one of them if the price is right.

Some crazy specs around for the money.

I received my Redmi Note 8 Pro yesterday and I'm very pleased with it.

One small issue I've encountered though, I've just got back from a run and the GPS kept dropping out whilst the screen was locked. This means much of my route was not captured. Not sure why it has done this... Battery saving measure perhaps?

Thoughts on the Redmi Note 8T? £179 in UK.
You can get the pro for the same price, just of course not from UK.
