**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Just ordered a Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon) from Banggood. Haven't had an Android phone since the Galaxy S2 so will be interesting!

I know that despite many happy customers on here, there are still some folk who have reservations about buying a phone or tablet from a relatively unknown Chinese supplier.

Many of the larger manufacturers are now also realising this and it is surprising just how many brands such as Huawei, to name but one, are now selling directly through 'the rain forest' website.

Although the initial price can be somewhat higher, their return policy and fast delivery, not to mention the 'peace of mind' factor, and having no risk of an unexpected customs or import tax charge, is a major consideration to many!

Just a thought anyway! :)

quite a few buying the redmi note 3 pro. will be interesting to see how the phone holds up long term
I have has all the previous redmi note phones except the 5.7" one and they are still going strong as I moved them onto mates as I upgraded, fingers crossed this note 3 pro will be the same, loving it so far and the finger print scanner it pretty instant.

The AOSP rom on xda looks like it's very stable and gives a stock android experience. I'm waiting for Xiaomi to authorise my bootloader unlock and then will give it a try.

That's the process for getting authorisation if you don't mind me asking? Stock sounds good

Quite odd, in that the Doogee X5 is really quite bad, I didn't want to use it for long... but at the same time, it's amazing for only £40...

Nice review. I'm still evaluating battery life - certainly with nothing being used, the phone loses less than 2% per day. Need to see how it performs with items being constantly synced (whatsapp etc).

Have you tried rooting? I found a guide here:

http://braineatingcom.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/doogee-x5-easy-root-guide-for-newbies.html

But mine is on v18 firmware, so unsure whether to try it. Alternatively, kingroot is said to be working, but not sure how easy it is to replace with SuperSu after. Main reason for wanting to root is to add a microsd card and then use link2sd to expand the available storage.

2% a day? Do you mean an hour?

This is on eBay already so not trying to play with it any more. I kinda wish I'd tried the Pro version to see what kind of value that is. Maybe I still will at some point.

It was definitely *a day*. It dropped from 65% to 61% sat on my desk for 2 days, pretty much nothing installed. It had a sim in it and was connected to both wifi and the mobile network. Not anywhere near real world usage, so probably doesn't mean much at all.

I got it from a popular online auction site from a seller called "ilastone" - their ebay profile states that they are based in China, but my ZUK Z1 came with an EU plug so I assume it was shipped from somewhere in the EU.

As for the quality of indoor photography, I honestly couldn't say - all I use the camera on my phones for is taking photos of serial numbers on servers/printers/PCs etc to raise support tickets :$ The reviews I read before purchasing the phone weren't exactly overwhelmed by the quality of the camera - I think "adequate" is probably the only way I can describe it...

Thanks for the info. Do you get any slowdown in gaming or throttling? My K3 Note starts to lag when I game for a bit and the back gets really warm.
