***The Official Core i5 Overclocking Thread***

Wow. Guess you learn something new everyday huh? I was under the impression it would go to single channel mode, thanks for showing me that.

Why are all the clocks in here 20x200.

I have mine using the 21x multi, is it better to lower this to 20 and up the BCLK?

Best stress test is????

Not going to bother tonight but I would like to make sure it's rock solid tomorrow after work?

Thanks

EDIT: Oh and what's the max temps these should not hit?

Intel Burn Test on the highest memory setting you can do x 20 runs.

I can only do "high" because I'm on 32bit XP but looks like you're on a newer OS.

High is all I can do, limit of my memory and OS.

If you select Maximum it will use whatever free memory you have, in my case that's the same as doing High (~2000MB). If your computer can do 20 passes on max it should be fine.

Only one way to findout :)

Many thanks

I think my 82 peak is too much so I'll be taking the volts down tonight...

I know every chip is different but on average what are people settings their volts to for 4ghz?

Dunno if it's really classed as overclocking.

Got my i5 at 2.66Ghz (stock) and running @ 944mV. Never goes above 50c in IBT.

And if i'm honest I haven't seen the difference in speed over 3.6Ghz @ 1.184v.

Currently 2 hours along with the test now. Using the Corsair H50 watercooling block.

Are those temps under load @ 4.2?

Do you have a push/pull set-up on the H50 (I have one of these with a single fan you see)

Also what is you bios volts on the cpu please? :D

Thanks

1.4 volts. I dont know about the push pull thing, im pretty sure its not as i only have a single fan provided blowing through the radiator from the outside. It was stable for 6 hours and then i closed prime95 as i couldnt be arsed waiting any more.

They actually went down to 28oc. And yes it was under load.

tweakinfreak: Just remember not to get disheartened at a bsod and keep at it. An overclock won't be achieved in just one night.

I have had mine at 4ghz for well over a week now. My only problem is that I cannot seem to get speedstep back on but that is it:).

Lol I idle at 30-35-30-35 did you use the thermal past the unit came with? There really good temps for 1.4 :)

I know mate, just can't get over those temps for the clock? :)

Got mine at 3.8ghz(1.35ish vcore) with a quick prime test, will do a big one tonight.
Had real trouble with 4ghz(1.4vcore), kept failing prime after 15 mins on 1 core even though temps where the same as below roughly.

Using a Zalman Ultra Quiet CNPS Cooler, max temp reached was 60c.
