The Official 'Countdown to Wii' Thread!

Got a generic letter in the post from my own boss saying that they wont have a console for me - but I put my name at the top of the list! - much walking down to the store will later ensue...

Just a thought, but do the people who claim it's OK to sell consoles at massively inflated prices because it's just free market principles in action, also feel that the same rules apply when we pay higher prices for goods in the UK compared to people living on the continent? Dothey think it's justified that we pay the highest price in the world for a Wii?

FWIW, I can see both sides of the argument. I wouldn't (and won't) pay inflated prices. I've got one pre-ordered, if I get it before xmas, then fine, if I don't then my son will have other things to play with. Owning a Wii isn't a matter of life and death. However, I can also see that individuals who bulk-buy purely with the intention of flogging them on an auction site are causing price hike issues by unnecessarily mucking around with supply and demand.

Just pre-ordered 9 Wii classic controllers and 9 Wii Nunchucks

I have no problem with you pre-ordering stuff through the nose, but you posted that because you knew it would get a reaction from other posters. There's no need for it.

Just checked my online status with the place that doesnt seem to be supplying me with anything, and they are in the process of billing me for 1 nunchuck. How gutted if thats all I get :D

Edit - Its ready for dispatch! Shame the other items in the order arent!

 If I want to buy somthing then sell it on to SOMEONE who NEEDS to buy it at an INFLATED price then who is the real fool, me or them.

I sold a 360 for double face value I was selling XBox 360 VGA cables for £55 and they where only £20 to buy.

Dog eat dog world, sonny boy.

Well done you found the roll eyes button.

You clearly aren't short of a few quid if you can splash out on several consoles and nearly twenty controllers without blinking. It's pretty greedy in my eyes. Granted, I'd do the same if I had a spare console from making two preorders, but to purposely remove a decent amount of stock from the supply chain so you can inflate the prices is not on imo.

And posting here purely to provoke a comment worked too - unless you wanted people to say what a clever businessman you are or something?

On a positive note, my order has moved to "Being Picked" and the dispatch date is today and no longer an estimate :D

So don't post about it on a discussion forum then
Just what I was thinking. :p

Anyway the same place I ordered my Wii from has also dispatched Wii Play + Remote that I only ordered at the beginning of this week so hopefully this means the games and accessories aren't in short supply.

If you no longer wish to keep your pre-order with xxxx.com please login to your account and remove the item from your Outstanding Orders

Please accept our apologies for any disappointment this may cause

I pre ordered a classic controller with the rest of my order back on the first day there pre orders went up September 26th and still havent got one!

Got Zelda, Wii Play and the Wii all ok for tomorrow so not too fussed really!

Most of my items have been confirmed for dispatch today, unfortunatly my extra wii mote is still down as pre-ordered.

As for the selling on e-bay, I dont think its really in the christmas spirit, your buying childrens toys and selling at an inflated price around christmas time.

Kinda like going to a war torn village in the 3rd world, buying up their supply of replacement limbs then selling at a inflated price to victims of land mines, its just not cricket.

Still if your conscious lets you, enjoy your money and seasons greetings :) .

Prosthetic limbs are hardly in the same league as an entertainment console.
One helps you live the other kills time.
One is very necessary the other really isn't at all necessary.

As for the spirit of Xmas..... since when was Xmas all about having the latest toy or expensive gift or splashing loads of cash about? Xmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus. I take it that as Xmas is important to you that you will be going to church and trying to be a good Christian?

I don't think that this mad rush to buy Nintendo Wii's is actually int he spirit of Xmas. Perhaps it was the eleventh commandment or something : Thou shall spoil thy brats and turn the birth of Jesus Christ into a commercial holiday festival ...... hmmmmm

Perhaps people need to remember what Christmas is actually about and to stop whining about profiteering auctioneers. If you wanted a Wii then you should have pre-ordered one a long time ago. If you did not then you only have yourself to blame.

The people who actually make the price of consoles high are the people who bid on the auction. The sellers often put them up at cost or less. So it is the muppets who bid £400 for a £200 item that are the problem as it is actually they who increase the price.

People like me who pre-ordered a Wii will auction it because of the muppets who were too lazy to pre-order and who are too lame to simply wait a few weeks longer. If someone is prepared to pay me a lot more than I paid for my Wii then they are welcome to it, I'll just wait until the rush dies down and get one later, in the meantime I'll celebrate Xmas with my family by spending some time with them and if we don't have a Wii then maybe we'll just play monopoly together like the good old days.

It is ironic and slightly sickening to see people whining about greed whilst extolling the virtues of Xmas as "having the latest toy". Pot, kettle, black.
