Honestly did a quick search couldn't find any reason, and I wondered because of the funny way MS was advertising it as a "fragrance".
Sites talked about they MS site, they just didn't say why they where advertising it that way. The way some sites where talking about it made me think some order was put against MS to stop them.

Its just plainly that they dont have permission from Activision/Bungie to use the Destiny IP for particular types of marketing (no doubt delineated by their deal with Sony). As said earlier (co-)marketing deals arent anything new, just dont see the aggrieved party feel the need to react...
This does make a mockery of the money wasted in such marketing deals...

That's not a plain marketing deal, that reads like Ativision and more so Bungle wanted to stop MS from marketing their game, so which is i?t, your talk like most of the websites I didn't find a clear answer from.
Yes it is, I think you are trying to find some angle that just isnt there, just have a think about it regards other games that have had such treatment (COD, Diablo 3, Assassins Creed, Watchdogs, The Division etc...) - Destiny isnt different...
The reason why it isnt given as a clear answer is, bluntly, its a simple concept to grasp

Thank you! Where have all of the new Emblem codes come from?
Destiny is the biggest new release of the year & will likely be a huge seller. Microsoft are still playing catch up to the PS4, it's likely they wanted to get something/anything out there to say that Destiny is on the Xbone too.
The deal between Activision/Bungie & Sony for advertising Destiny is just standard practice. XBOX has been the lead platform for advertising/marketing of COD & FIFA for a while now, this is no different.
Apparently the Limited/Ghost Editions (or at least one of them)... they're universal codes it seems? They can be redeemed multiple times anyway.
edit: apparently in the Limited Edition extras, there are codes hidden and printed all over it, so some have been found and shared. So now makes sense why it's multi-use as they can just print one set off instead of diff codes for every single LE.

Sales wise Xbox one is getting thumped by the PS4 and judging from the destiny multiplayer thread they are about to get thumped on that as well. The point of it was to create a viral marketing campaign to advertise the xbox one version even though they don't have permission to advertise if officially. This has worked very well since there is a news story on every gaming website about this now.
I doubt Sony are happy since they have probably spent quite a bit of money getting exclusive advertising and timed dlc for the game and I'd expect them to start doing unofficial adverts on COD, FIFA and Tomb Raider next year.
Wouldn't surprise me but it hasn't been announced.
