Anybody else thinking I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to be doing?

Just follow the quest pointers at the start but feel free to explore, I found a few loot chests hidden away in caves etc. After the first mission head to the city and claim the rewards and check it. There are events that seem to happen pretty regular and just did some with a friend at it was good fun.

This was the game I was looking forward to the most and although I've only played a couple of hours, love it!!!

The graphics are superb especially the lighting, the sound adds so much to the atmosphere it gets pretty tense at times. I'm just in no rush to get places just feel that the game wants you to explore..

I've already booked a day off work for the release, may just expand that a bit

scoring the game on the merits of an alpha is laughable

Exactly, I think Alpha and Beta tests are a great idea as it helps sort out bugs etc before the final release, some people just don't get it though. Maybe all Alpha/Beta applications should come with an IQ test.

This game shows great potential and whats available now is just a very small taste, this isn't a game that will be over in 6-8 hours it cries out to be explored and played with other people.

Is this game got a free roam element to it, can you explore other planets and so on....?


There was a game on ps3 that this reminds me of, can't for the life of me remember what it was called but you could explore with your own space ship

It has free roam/exploration so you can visit other planets join for raids etc. you select the planets from orbit and auto fly there, it's not a case of flying the space ship if that's what you mean though.

The good thing about the game is you can play it as you wish, from a single player game, to small co-op to organised raids. I think there will be a phone app on release to that will help with organised raids etc.

Is pre-order the only way to get into beta?

It's a guaranteed way to get it, whether they make it open later on would be a guess.

I got an email from Sony and then I signed up for a code and I got one a few days later

I must be signed up for sony spam emails then i reckon.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Alpha which you are playing now, that will not qualify you for the Beta.

Yeah this was an E3 thing, it will not entitle you to the Beta, you'll have to pre-order to guarantee that.

So how do i advance in this? On the explore mission running round doing all the repetitive little beacon missions but nothings advancing, found an area that was much higher level than me so turned around but now just seems like i cant do anything?

There is a limit to how much you can progress, what we have access to at the moment is just a taster with a lvl cap and restricted area. Try out the strike mission and then do some PvP, I'm using the time to try the 3 different classes.

I went ahead and pre ordered this on Thursday night got my alpha code within about 12 hours. Will try it out Sunday. Hiw long will the alpha be running?

The Alpha ends on Sunday, the code you got for pre-ordering will give you access to the Beta in July though which should run longer.

Same, for an alpha it's been pretty much perfect for me.

The strike mission is really good, I think the balance with difficulty is spot on at the moment.. this remains my most anticipated game of the year by a mile

Anyone else find the boss battles a bit of a grind?

Not really, when I first tried the spider in a group at lvl 6 it took forever to kill, however going back at lvl 8 with decent gear was a lot better (and knowing how to do it) and it took next to no time. I guess the problem may be at the moment those bosses are limited but in the full game you won't be grinding it as such.

What surprises me is the alpha is so small yet there is so much to find if you look for it, I found some places this morning that I hadn't seen at all and I thought I had it all covered.

Same. I really think playing through the strikes with a couple of mates, increasing the difficultly to brave and legend will be great.

Indeed although this is a game that I can play on my own when I feel like or just explore, the main attraction is doing strikes/raids with friends, going to be so much fun.

Anyone that got in alpha know if this seems similar to Defiance?

Depends on what you mean by similar, in a way yes as they are MMO's however this is in a different league to defiance so I wouldn't compare them.

Ghost Edition is $150 in the states... sadly in typical GAME fashion they decided okay we'll just charge £150 here.

I'll trying to decide whether to get the Collectors Edition at £149 or the Limited Edition at £95 but at the moment I'm edging towards the £95 Limited edition.. I'll probably change my mind when I get into GAME to pre-order

I must admit I like collectors editions or at least some sort of limited editioned, it's things like that that I would really miss if everything went digital.

I'm now edging towards the collectors edition, simply because I'm really looking forward to this game and it will be nice to pickup at Midnight on release

Will progress in this beta be carried over to retail or will there be a wipe?

It will be wiped, the best you can hope for is they'll give you some in game item for participating but I don't think that's been mentioned.

You basically have to be nuts to spend an extra £100 on a game just to get a plastic toy and a bit of extra reading material that realistically cost them almost nothing to come up with. However, there is one born every minute I guess.

That can be said about a lot of things, if you enjoy gaming or collecting and can afford it then I see no harm in it, the value is down to the person buying it.

Well 15GB will take me ages, but that's almost 4x the alpha size so hopefully a sign of how much content there will be.

They've said it's still something they're thinking about, I don't mind either way. Does anyone know what the level cap is yet?

I'm not sure about that, not many MMO type games allow you to do that so I'd be surprised if they do.

I've not tried the Beta yet but will be home this afternoon so look forward to it, I read the cap was 20 unless you mean the full game.

What class are people using, and why? Intersting to get peoples take on the different classes.

I'm going for Warlock, I had decided to play that even before playing the alpha but after playing all classes I'm going to stick with it.

With the warlock you have to be super aggressive or really defensive, it's not a middle class really.

Having said that all the classes were good, not really an OP class that you usually get in MMO's so just go with what you like.

How do I enter the crucible?

You have to play some PVE first then you get a mission, if you've already done that then just select it from orbit.
