*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Did the Nightfall with a randomer I picked up along the way - that was the only way I managed to complete it despite 'cheesing' as on Solo, the nexus attack is constant. Non-stop! With the randomer, we took turn to from either end of our hideout to get rid of the Nexus.

On Weekly Heroic, it's a lot easier as the Nexus flinches, so it gives you respite whilst sniping his crit spot.

Yeah the Nexus fight itself is relatively straight forward in terms of mechanics but the void splash damage from the Boss is just crazy. Nightfall was a case of take a couple of pot shots with a sniper and run for cover (even in the sniping cheese spot). The Weekly Heroic was easier in terms of splash damage but took longer to complete due to the lack of void burn on the enemies.

If you need shards quickly and have utilised the other methods* (strikes / daily publics across more than one character) and have the spare marks then there is nothing wrong with buying armour to break it down.

*Or are bored of them.

does it help to level them up first

This week's weekly has void burn ;):D

Does it... oh flippity flip flip :o

No wonder it was taking a while to take down the boss. I wasn't using my void sniper.... Urgh I need to pay more attention to what the screen is telling me if that's the case.

Steveo - what do you mean by level them up first? Your secondary characters or the armour itself? If you mean the armour I think they give 3 shards regardless of whether they are maxed out or not. If you mean the secondary character then yes it certainly helps if they are at least in the high teens. At lower levels even the public events will become a challenge if there are higher level players partaking in the event (due to the way the game scales the enemies).

I'm not sure if it works for armour but for weapons if you level them a bit and get the first few upgrades, you stand a higher chance of getting more energy and telemetry packs for that weapon type! That's if you can be bothered :)

I've never ever got one... and I've broken down a fair few legendaries!
Only time I got one is from Xur with my spare coins.

I wonder if you need kills with that particular weapon as well? I got one from my shadow price which was fully upgraded, a shotgun one from a half upgraded shotgun and a rocket launcher one from a half upgraded rocket launcher.

That's rather poor for the price. No new raid? Bungie have almost killed this game for me.....

Edit: actually just seen the second link. So one raid and only two extra strikes? Damn. I think I'll be saving my monies.

Yeah there a new raid - the Kokuta article is pretty **** tbh

3 story missions
2 strikes (1 exclusive to PSN sadly til August)
1 raid

Cheap for at least £17.50 - LOLActivision - though still better than a monthly fee IMO

ps3ud0

I'm in two minds whether to purchase the content.

This game is crying out for it, and I do enjoy the game. But on the other hand I despise the way they are supporting the game.

Bugs in the raid have remained unfixed, complaints about the multiplayer map rotation have been left un-addressed, complaints on the loot system have been left un-addressed largely (apart from the early engram change and adding more rewards to the strike playlist). They nerfed lots of weapons in an attempt to "balance" the crucible, making them pointless in PVE. They acknowledged this for the mythoclast, but not for the other weapons they broke like Pocket Infinity, and seem to have no plans to address what others have pointed out all along - that weapons should have seprate PVP and PVE stats and abilities. They've indicated they want to make another nerf to the suros regime, without acknowledging that they've already made it weaker in PVE in their crucible crusade.

Equally they seem intent on hiding the lack of content by forcing you to repeat activities again and again and again in the hope of getting something, but shooting people in caves again and again and again was not in their vision ? while running around in circles again and again and again resource farming was ?

They refuse to address the frequently leveled complaints that bungie's entire model of the game hinges on rewarding participation. There is no risk vs reward as rewards don't scale with risk, and instead everything without fail is a dice roll.

So do I reward my contempt for this by buying the DLC and acting like none of the above matters ? or do I buy it and solve one of my issues with the game currently.

Lack of content.

Decisions Decisions.

Yeah I just read the second link which has a lot more info :p I can't say it's got me excited though. I don't want to keep paying in £20 or so chunks for a little extra when there isn't a great deal in the game to start with. I almost feel the first expansion should be free.

Unfortunately I already used the expansion pass code I got from the LE (so they're happy they already have my money...), but if this carries on I won't be looking into investing any more in the future of the series :\
