***** The Official Division Thread *****

Really need them to talk about raids and hopefully some idea how the grinding differs from the beta (do you get less XP, credits, DZ coins for doing something than you did) and the pricing and availability of weapons and gear (how expensive is stuff and what level do you have to be to really get it).

Ive enjoyed the game purely for the DZ, Ive found the PvE is near pointless once youve levelled enough to enjoy the DZ (no doubt PvE grind will be there just to unlock things like perks) - its like the DZ is the endgame content. I do think there should be a conversion between credits and DZ money as it might help people play more DZ when theres an alternative route to buying DZ weapons and potentially limiting DZ exposure.

P.S. Davey - I should have heeded your warning, man DZ last night solo was tough

Yup. It was manageable in places, but I found that whenever I was distracted fighting the AI like at the Library, before I could react I'd have a hit squad shoving their collectives guns up my butt.

thats how you 1v3 :)

Made easier by having the two best guns in the game and going against a squad who are not fully healed, and have the collective aiming skill of a pet monkey. Still impressive though :)

I've enjoyed the beta, think I'll be double dipping and getting it on Xbox and PC.

I had fun playing both sides of the coin, 1 minute hunting rogues, finding and extracting loot, the next just hiding by the extraction zones, waiting for a small group, toss the grenade and mini gun and mow them down, run off and gain the XP from surviving when rogue.

allow safe houses(not seen any yet) in pve zones to purchase high end weapons, will fix problem.

will balance both sides of the game better and gives reason to play pve content.

I need to apologise to Sieze for bludgeoning him to death when I left the group and he went rogue while still right next to me...

Dredd just never thinks of the best time to go rogue - I swear hed be an opportunistic killer in RL

I will never forget our pathetic manhunt attempt of hiding on the library roof for 5 mins while Dredd/Venom screams check your entrance while the whole server was below us...

Cancelled my pre-order for this today, I will wait and see how people get on with it after release.

I had the overwhelming feeling this weekend that its just Watchdogs with a different story, meaning the side missions and encounters will get old, fast. The only thing that might draw me in is an excellent story, but Watchdogs was awful and I don't have a lot of faith The Division will be any better.

Story isn't everything of course, but the gameplay is lacking too. The cover system and shooting is clunky and unsatisfying, the environment is bland and lifeless, traversal of the terrain is just bizarre - not being able to die or seriously injure yourself by falling off buildings is one thing, but unable to jump over or off things unless you're in the precise spot is unforgivable. Why did they not use some of Assassin's Creed's mechanics?

Hard to compare it to Destiny in many ways but whilst Destiny has it's issues with content and story, the core gameplay mechanics are superb. Repeating missions/patrols/strikes on Destiny in the quest for loot always felt fun, I've never got that feeling with The Division.

Nice, I'm jealous of his purple M1A  :)

Come on, it was longer than 5 mins haha. I would have had a good getaway, but ran into two sets of NPC's + a player we killed coming out of the safe house :/

LOL I would have survived if I had made it through the sports store - with Dredd getting me up I still was under manhunt while the rest of you werent - man when under rogue and not being able to fire back because it pauses/increases your counter makes it so hard to survive. Id like them to give tiered rewards dependent on how long you last under it so at least you get something (or maybe lose less the lower the counter is)

Only survived one manhunt in this beta and that was just dumb luck

And there lies the problem, do you think you were the only people camping extraction points? You have a large area to play in yet 90% of the PvP I witnessed
was around extraction points. It's easy kills, no skill, just camping.

lol every shooter has the potential for people camp to gain reward. Even if you play objective based game modes you'll find people who just camp around the objective to farm kills with no intention of actually playing it. You just have to deal with it, theres nothing any developer can do to stop people camping.

It’s all tactical though. If the extraction point is rammed with players, go to a different one. If you see a group of 4 rolling in with no loot and healing up etc, s*** is probably about go down. We send one player into the fray to get shot, make the other players go rogue and then just kill them all.

That turret though, it just shoots anyone lol, I stopped using it. I would just stand in front of one until it sent some poor player rogue :p

This is it. The best tactic is to go to one of those right on the corner, right out of the way, and wait for somebody to start an extraction at the one right near the entrance. Give it 30 seconds then start yours off, everybody intent on just ganking people for fun will have long since set off for the first one.

Also wasn't we only given a tiny part of the full DZ to play around in?

and that's another point. Come release the dark zone will be much bigger so less chance of tripping over other groups so easily

This was completely apparent last night. I made the mistake of trying to get some last solo action in on the DZ, and as it was the last night and people knew it made no difference, I was getting murdered left, right and centre. At the start of the beta, when people cared about levelling and their characters, I played solo for about 3 hours and only got killed by another team once. I think when the game is in full release you'll find less of the roving death squads that were ganking everyone, whether they had loot or not.

This will no doubt play a part too. People know its a beta and their characters are going to reset. Nobody is going to get to keep anything they find. Given that, what else is there to do in the DZ once you've got to max rank other than just shoot everything ?

It won't be like this come full release.

Are we expecting 24 player instances of the DZ when the game releases? That seems to indicate that player interactions will be low and because the DZ areas are tiered it might actually be useful to be behind the curve as the other players are probably in higher parts of the DZ you cant get access to. Why would anyone of higher level stay in the lower levels stealing lower end items...

You don't get a choice in the matter. In the beta if you are level 8 you could not join a level 1-7 DZ instance, no option for high level ganking.

So that means the areas off-limit in the beta that had a higher requirement wont be available until Im that level? So a level 1-7 player at the start wont have a bigger DZ zone than the one weve had in the beta?

I'm hoping it just lets you go anywhere, no matter your level. You'd just absolutely wrecked by the AI.

This. The dark zone with regards other players is bracketed. Once you move up a rank you then get a dark zone with other players of your rank. This is the same for all dark zone zones regardless of where you are. But you won't survive in the higher level ones until you rank up.

Although your darkzone bracket will be for players rank 15-19 for example, the AI who spawn in the different areas will be tiered. So DZ01 will be for enemies level 14-16, DZ02 will be 15-16 DZ03 will be 16-18, DZ04 will be 22-24 while DZ05 will be 27-29.

So even though you're level 15 you can still go find level 27 enemies in DZ05 and be unable to touch them.

all explained in this video

thats exactly what will happen if you go to DZ05 as a low rank player. Too many levels above and you can't touch them.

I wanted to love this game but I just wasn't sold... I know it's a beta but it just seemed like there wasn't much to the game, is there loads more features or something in the full release? I couldn't care less about the story tbh.
