***The Official E2140/E2160 Overclocking Thread***

Bit of an update,

E2160 on my Ultima-90i with Sharkoon 1000
Now running at 3492mhz at only 1.48volts
Totally stable :)

Still need to lap the cpu and the Heatsink and maybe invest in a more powerful fan.

Quite inpressed with this budget chip, next time i've got the cooler off I'll make a note of it and post it on here.

They are great chips.

The fact that this thread is still going is testament to that.:)

Upping the vcore doesn't help at all, I've had it all the way up to 1.55v and it still gets dodgy at 2.91-2.92ghz area and still anything over that just doesn't want to know. It's plenty enough to tide me over for some time so I'm happy enough with the overclock even though it's just a little dissapointing it doesn't hit 3ghz on the dot.

I have never not seen a 2140 reach 3ghz.

Slacken your ram timings and take them out of the equation to find the max of

your cpu.

Well this is my first attempt at overclocking and a damn good result I reckon. I think I could probably push it quite a bit more but really don't see the point tbh, would rather have the lower voltage and temps. Memory running 800mhz 1:1 at 4-4-4-15 timings.

All for £31 delivered, I'm chuffed!

Did it pass 8hrs?

Yep, ran 10 hours of small FFTs overnight and ran blend for about 8 hours today and came through unscathed, it seems I got really lucky with the chip. I haven't tried a lower voltage or a higher OC but I think I'm quite happy with this tbh, excellent OC, 1:1 memory at 800mhz, and voltage well within spec.

I've just swapped out my two 120mm case fans that came with my build for a couple blue Yate Loons and my temps. have dropped a few degrees and the whole PC is much quieter. Really rather impressive considering the spec. its running at and the price I paid.

I'm using the Akasa 965 to cool my CPU because in the reviews I read it comfortably outperformed the AF Pro and is cheaper to boot. My experience with it seems to back that up, great budget cooler.

Screenie at 10hrs would be a nice addition to this thread,:)
