So if your're goin from AMD - Intel then there will be different chipsets so the regisrty will be different to the actual components installed so there will be errors on startup.
I always prefer to play it safe and clean install whenever changing mobo.

Can i not just switch the mobo/cpu and load the new drivers? I'm loathe to re-instal XP. Presumably if I did I'd have to re-instal just about everything else as well? In particular iTunes. I've already had to "allow/enable it 5 times for this computer" and it said something about 5 being the limit. That is one piece of software that seems to be very delicate. I've had no end of problems with it in the past. As bad luck would have it, it is the only thing the boss at home (wife) is interested in using on the pc. I don't want to have to play around with it, or attempt to speak to their customer support explain and try to get it sorted out.
Wouold it just not work if I loaded the new drivers? Will I have to phone microsoft as well?
