***The Official E4300 Overclocking Thread***

Becuase when you buy a basic core 2 package (which the E4300 is aimed at) some people cant afford to splash out on a performance HSF.

Now that I have ordered better items I will be able to push it further :)

What’s the verdict on these E4300 then? Are they clocking as far as the similarly multiplied (x9) E6600? If not, why not?

Given a good board like the P5B Deluxe and half decent 800MHz RAM is the E6300 or E4300 likely to return the best clocks all else being equal?

6000 series will get you higher clocks.

The 4300 are great for mobos with low end limited FSB like the asrocks.

Pair one up with one of them and 2.7ghz will be easy.

If you have a top end 965 mobo then get either a 6300/6400

Just a word to the wise, the stock P5N-E bios sucks, update it ASAP, it wasn't even letting me 2.8ghz stable @ stock volts. Now its not a problem with the 0401 BIOS.

found mine the other way around minstadave.... but i am new to this nonsense.

What memory were you using with this as i have geil pc6400 value set. What setting did you have everything at?

I'm using some PC5300 Team Xtreem that clocks like mad :) On the 650i I'm finding that NB voltage is the key to posting at high FSB, without 1.53V on the NB I can't clock much above 3Ghz.

Setting wise it was something like this at 3.6Ghz:

System frequency - 1800Mhz
Vcore - 1.45V
RAM - in synch @ 4,4,4,10 2.2V
NB Voltage - 1.53V
Everything unnecessary set to off (virtualisation, speedstep etc..)

IIRC e4300 doesnt have virtualisation so this bios option would do nothing anyhow. :)

If u are at 3.6Ghz then thats a good job, tell us what cooling for CPU, NB/SB and possibly the cpu stepping? Is it 24/7 stable at 3.6Ghz and the temperature?

I have now been running my 4300 at 266fsb without changing any voltages for a couple of days (mostly intensive WoW leveling) and its been rock solid.

Might give 333fsb a shot soon and see what happens.

I didn't go for an E4300 in the end, I paid the extra for a 6400, I just posted my settings for the P5N-E to help mattpj.

I only had a few hours to play yesterday, and 3.6 crashed in orthos after 30mins, will see if I can get it stable today.

Cooling was scythe infinity on the CPU, stock P5N-E NB cooler with 92mm blowing over it, SB is bare. Stepping is unknown as I forgot to write it down, but the CPU is coming out tomorrow so I'll check it then. Temps are 51 degrees full orthos load.

Alright Dave,

You're going to have to change your sig mate

I know :D I've got a E6600 ariving tomorrow, so once I decided which CPU to keep I'll change it :D

cool cool... the Team RAM rocks dont it? I was pestering Gibbo for ages trying to get him to get it in :)
