*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I think one of the reasons I'm a bit reluctant to ever dive into this too hard is that I'll feel once I've amassed a huge amount of credits (which seemingly seems very easy) I'll feel like the other stuff isn't worth grinding for.
Mind you, won't know until I do it will I.

Playing differently this time. I'm sticking in one place to get rep and get better missions rewards, I'm also choosing materials and or rep over pure credits.

Credits only matter when you start the game, however you play you will soon amass more Cr than you need. Then the currency that matters shifts to engineering components until you have engineered everything you'll ever need, merits (if you go powerplay), Federal and Imperial rep for unlocks and Guardian bits and bobs until you grind all the unlocks you want. Not in any particular order.

Then the only currency that matters is simply enjoying the game as you play it.

PS There are Commanders who have amassed trillions of Credits

I've just arrived at my very first Guardian Spot

Synefe PX-J C25-8 to be exact

i wont do this tonight, just wanted to see where it was etc. didn't take long to get there with my engineered explorer :)

did you take the guardian mission from ram tah? (I assume it is still there. in reality the actual purpose for the mission has long past however I do remember enjoying it back in the day (albeit became a bit of a slog near the end). I guess it's chump change now but in it's time it paid well too.

Not sure if aimed at me but no idea who that is so assume not lol. I spent barely any time on missions tbh but playing differently now :)

fair enough well if you did decide to have a proper rummage about but want to be rewarded as well there is a guide here

I believe the mission was broke (bugged) for a while but that was over a year ago now. I know FD can be slow fixing bugs but I would hope they would have fixed it by now.

Thank you, I've never really understood what is like part of the story missions. Is it generally stuff that you get messaged to you like the engineer invites?

in general the missions are just standard boilerplate guff from the missionboard .

the best missions in the game are the ones in the tutorial, they are voiced and really make you feel like you are part of a story. if anything they are such a tease as it just makes what we are then introduced to a massive disappointment in the actual game.

however there are a handful of actual scripted missions in the game, and 2 of them are based around guardians offered by ram tah. there may be others but of top of head I can't think of any (but I have just finished driving back from a holiday and am not at ful mental capacity right now :) )

I didn't even think about it tbh
Once I get the blueprints I can do his mission ?

in at Ram Tah now, only got Grade 3 access at the moment
i dont remember anything about Him and Guardian stuff, is that fairly new ? I was on Horizons when i met him though

its the other way around... The Ram Tah missions are very old. As i said i was not certain he still offers the missions but i would hope so. would seem a damn shame for what hand crafted mission content there is to be taken out... even if technically the information you deliver to him would be obsolete.

edit more info below

That said, unless canonn has not been updated .... the 1st mission is STILL bugged - which is shameful for FD to not fix it for so long.... its a hard enough slog as it is without bugs making it worse - still doable however with the guide!.

Wanna get back into Elite, but not played since like engineers stuff came in.... Panther Clipper was my ship back in the day so wanna get that when it comes out... so really need to start skilling back up in it... need to take the plunge and reinstall it.

i would say dont rush.... make a note on what you need and then keep an eye on the mission board and take them when the right jobs are offered.
nothing kills elite dangerous more imo than grinding out, because at the end of the tunnel there isnt much there.

what i do is...... i actually go months without touching engineers. every mission i take on i always take the material payment and then when my bags begin to get full i then work out what i need for engineering and visit a materials trader then, i then trade stuff there, get all the engineering i can and then forget about engineering again and go back to just playing the game

for ody stuff, look at the sharing is caring thread and pick up grade 3 gear with a perk or 2 added for credits. these are buy 1 then gone gear so you need to be on your toes. To be honest the grade 3 is trivial, its the utility slots which can be the real bonus there - night vision being one which is a bit of a pain to get, so keep eye out for that modification (assuming you want night vision in your ground suit of course).
