The general fighting ability has defiantly been ramped up, but I'm still holding my own in a cheap Anaconda. I'm just being more picky about which battles I fight.

But, I think most of the complaints of the AI are due to this bug:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dHdsYrmKnM

Somehow the rate of fire for NPC's weapons has been ignored. They're sometimes packing plasma accelerators which can fire as quick as multi cannons. There's another video of a railgun firing so quickly it looks like a beam laser. Run into one of these and no matter how good you are if you get hit it's likely to be fatal. No amount of engineering will throw up a weapon like that - the cooling and ammo considerations alone would empty the WEP capacitor in a second!

The AI Rail and Plasma Bug has been acknowledged by ED and they are working on it... You can get credits back for lost ships via support..

That's good that it's a "specific" issue that can be addressed fairly easily, as against an across the board issue with AI.
I LIKE the fact that its' now safer in the right kind of place (i.e. controlled system whilst you're doing legal things), whilst it's a good deal more dangerous otherwise. That's the way it SHOULD be.
The fact that they've eliminated the stupid interdictions by suicidal NPCs is just ace.

However

The quick fire issue may well still be a problem....

See post

So even though they will/have made the AI changes, that specific bug may persist. They would like bug reports and any evidence sent to them. I will fly back in at some point and give it another bash later... Shadowplay set to on....

I still can't sustain the loses for hull damage as a trader even with todays changes. It wouldn't be quite so bad if I could actually find a decently profitable trade route in my neck of the woods. The markets have changed a bit since the 2.1 update.

Played for a hour, interdicted 4 times, 3 times by a deadly FDL and once by an Anaconda (missed its rank). Couldn't avoid the interdiction and had to run all 4 times, with my hull down as low as 13% when running from the Anaconda. My ship is a trade-conda and I know I could do much better in combat if I kitted it out that way, but I want to be a trader. If I'm having this much difficulty in the Anaconda I can only image the trouble people are having in Type 6,7 and 9's.

...but surely the issue is, these are (NPC) pirates so simply want your cargo? Why isn't that being addressed and the mechanics around it cleared up? "Come to a halt..." & "Give me 20t of your Palladium, now!"

If you drop csrgo, they stop shooting. Saw a video on the FD forums.

I think that's the premise, but it all seems a bit slap-dash...

If you're in a T9, how much do drop to the pair of MKIII Cobra's attacking probably only with 30t of cargo space between them? Do you need to drop 5t? 15t? 50t?

And you're trying to go through the hud doing this as they're blasting the poo out of you...

Seems the mechanics need to be improved so, like a human CMDR, they give better coms/instructions/terms...

Question on this.
As of the 30th, when you scanned NPCs with "mods", you learned about new options. By disabling the mods, can we still scan them?

I have not seen anything different to say that is not the case and I guess that would be why some combat mods are being retained on AI ships. However the value of the info my have changed to just include non combat info..

The debate has quite need down somewhat. However deadly/Elite ranked AI are still a handful. So for us who have high ranks based on farming (me, I am deadly) will still need to revaluat our playing style if we are not super fantastic combat players. I am off to get my Vulture... In That I know I can be quite tasty and is what I use in High intensity CZ's.

Agreed on the re-evaluation. As mentioned, I took it nice and easy to get a feel for things. Took out the FAS, but only to a local Nav point. Building myself up to a CZ. Additionally, I want to get the hang of using limpets. Was trying to manually collect materials yesterday, and whilst fairly straightforward, was very time-consuming.

so picking flowers for the engineers and managed to get myself in a uss in an anarchy system, where t6 and t7 ship would keep respawning along with escorts. just cruised round with my cargo scoop open and limpets dutifily collecting all the materials, as I blasted the ships as they appeared...

Was the bounty only for that system? Any trouble with bounty hunters?
What ship did you use?

Sounds like a good plan.
