The *Official* Eve Online Thread

you just don't get it do you. if only 15% of the playerbase gets to see it's a big waste. they could have structured it so that players of all mission running levels got to see the content.

No, you just don't get it. It is not aimed at you. It is not aimed at anyone else who has been playing for a while.

It is designed for new players.

It doesn't matter if 15% of the player base does it. If it attracts 5-10,000 new subscribers, then it's a massive win.

PS: Not that it matters, but you stand by what you said based on what figures exactly? I'd love to see those too.

Just to add someone else's opinion to this fight, I'm aiming to start playing again now, and am looking forward to this questline, I like the idea of a longer storyline to the quests.

So assuming there are a fair few people in my position, it's not wasted time :).

I guess, like other things in life, this game isnt for everyone. some like the instant action games others like the more long time satisfaction of a game where you plan ahead. Some like a bit of both.

Eve has pleanty to offer, but i can see if you come from other games, it might be a big shock to see skills that take 30days to train, or have to mind what your doing as grief play is part of the game here. Losing a ship in combat is not a good thing, you lose the ship plus the items in it. Some can handle this, other cant. Thats why tere are so many games out there to cater to the needs of people who dont like eve :)

Dont get upset if someone says they dont like the game, least they gave it a go :)

ColiN - 17 days for lab skill level 5 :)

Thanks for the invite to the Corp (Akihito Araculus is my podpilot btw). Will do an intro etc on the corp forums as soon as I can....darned work!! Work being a bit crazy has encouraged me to get some week long skills done though so thats all good :)

That's what i like about EVE.
And is the first MMO that i have ever played & the only one that i do play.

Just seeing 2 others having a fight gets me nervous as i don't know if the next shot could be aimed at me.

PvP will get your heart pumping... expect to loose a few ships but learn how they took you down, what items where used, what order they used them ect. You be amazed at what tatics can be used in PvP...

The 1st time someone locks onto you is the scariest moment, your not sure if he is bluffing, trying to get you to shoot 1st, lure you in, its all upto you, in the blink of an eye, make your mind up and go with it.

Unless, like me, you get jumped by 6 people in battleships lol, then its 'game over' im afraid lol.

ColiN - ps - welcome to EW tatics.

That's spolied me for everything else tbh, warhammer online just felt absurd after eve PVP, no consequences to your actions. No risk no reward! Every other mmorpg I've played has been like duelling with waterpistols, eve is live fire

Not to say I didn't cry like a girl when I lost my first rigged domi that I'd saved for a month for, mind :D

lulz.......know the feeling :p

i did a wormhole in my rigged domi and eventually found a way out however it dumped us in a low sec sys 14 jumps from home. So i set off forgetting to look at my ****ty sec status and got Concordokkened in high sec :(............\o/ for insurance!

Someone please explain the market system to me ..

When you sell something, you are fulfilling buy orders right? If i sell something in that station and it has a buy order, i sell to that person at that price?

If i try and sell something in that station that doesn't have a buy order, it sells at the regional average and to the buyers highlighted in green, which means they're in the jump range they've set?

So when i sell something that doesn't have a buyer in that station, where does the stuff go to

sits in the station till the person that bought it comes and picks it up, same with the ones in green. it just means somebody has put a buy order out for the entire region. Usually at a much lower price. If on the otherhand you Sell something on the market it just sits there as a sell order till somebody buys it.

Of topic a bit here but if you think eve is bad, you should have been around for games like MIR lol.. not only is killing players allowed, it was an art, you died, dropped items from your back pack and maybe items you wear wearing and like in eve, anyone can pick them up lol.. you also lost xp so dropping a lvl was not unheard of lol.

Made PvP like eve, alittle more risky but enjoyable. After games like that, most others seem a little tame...

True dat. EVE has even stepped up the game a little with the introduction of T3 Strategic Cruisers. Get one blowed up, not only do you lose the ship and all the fittings, but you lose a level off one of the related skills.

That'd be a bummer if you have them all on level 5 then. :p

I have Caldari ships trained up to BS level, and good missile/shield skills. I would like to branch out a bit into, say, Rails or Lasers so that I have some options (Mainly mission running).

What is the most sensible route? Are there Caldari ships that work well with rails on L3/L4 missions? Or is it worth starting afresh on another races ships to get better ship bonusses?

On the topic of the EVE Market, could someone please explain this to me:

I'm confused about the whole remote buy/sell order system.

Say for example I'm sitting at a station in Jita. I place a remote buy order for 100 units of missiles from a station 2 jumps away. Am I then able to sell those missiles at a third location, without ever actually leaving Jita (assuming I have the correct skills)?

I've read examples of players buying up smaller orders of a particular unit from surrounding systems, so they can meet a much larger buy order.

A week or so back I trained up industrial ship skill to help increase the cargo capacity of the industrial ship.

However, my new mining ship, (Procurer) by training it's mining ship skill didn't have the same desired effect of increasing the cargo capacity.
Does that not work on mining vessels or am I training the wrong skill.

P.s the link to that mining guide in pdf would be handy. Main crashed (again) and I lost the convo with the link in it.

Ferox for L3 and Rokh for L4.

Merlin for L1, Moa or Harpy for L2. :)

From what i understand of that, you need to check the Description of the Procurer, at the bottom it will say which skills affect which attributes.. With that example, 3% better yield for Strip Miners per level of Mining Barge.

I may have totally missed your question though, your an old hand at eve, so im sure this isnt what you mean.. maybe...

As for the Mining Guide, im no help, i dont do mining. :)

Same boat, ive maxed my Caldari skills out pretty much, up to Marauder V... and i too want to play with different weapons, Missiles get boring.

Im training for the Nightmare (Lasers) and Rattlesnake (Rails) both look very capable lvl4 mission ships. :)

What Xenoxide says is spot on if you want to stick within the Caldari standard ships, personally, im more interested in the faction vessels. :)

Sorry Darryn, reading it back to myself, it wasn't very clear at all what I was asking, so I've edited it, hopefully that is clearer now.
