The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Wow..

You must be real good at this stuff..
Screw amarr then. It clearly can be done, looking at your killboard.

EDIT: I was thinking..would it be possible when i get my sub that you tell me how to use all that piloting skill and positioning etc?

My advice would be to fastrack your interceptor training... they're lots of fun, always useful in a gang, and the taranis in particular is awesome for interceptor 1v1s, which you can normally find pretty easily. Make sure you train up thermodynamics early on as well, it's easily the single most useful skill for PvP because it lets you overload your active mods for extra range/damage/effectiveness. My first 6 months in 0.0 I flew pretty much nothing but taranises, it's a great way to learn PvP and means you'll have nice fast combat reactions down the line.

Also take the time to learn other race's ship setups. Google the scrapheap challenge forums, they have a great section for PvP fittings and generally there's a lot more sense talked than on the eve-o forums. That way when you run up against a enemy you have a pretty good idea on what he's going to have fit, making your decision on whether/how to engage a lot more informed.

Don't try and rush into the bigger, more expensive ships. The temptation is always just to run for BS as fast as possible. Don't. Be patient and fly what you have the skills to fly well.

Finally, make sure you get yourself into a corp that offers frequent PvP with good FCs, whether it be Factional Warfair, lowsec or 0.0. You can't beat experience.

First thing i'm gonna have to do is continue my learning skills... it's where I lacked when I first began.. suffering a bit for it now.

Erm, not off the top of my head that'll take brand new players, except Goonswarm. I'm pretty sure there are empire alliances that do stuff specifically to get noobies into pvp, bt I've been in 0.0 such a long time I really couldn't tell you. Maybe ask in the recruitment channel on scraphead challenge forums.

Are there any Corps that will take me in :)

I have a few bits an peices to offer.. I think I had one of the new BCs as well as a couple of BS'..

God.

Maybe I should stop reading EVE forum discussions. Too many opinions and stats make me doubt again.

in a nutshell, the topic basically says that Blasters arent viable in pvp. Should I take it seriously?

EDIT: scarab, I played mugen. Have backups of some of the most rarest chars, and intros, stages too. Also got a modified screenpack (2000 char space :)) I'm pretty inactive in the community now. But, I used to host all of qwerwgrebew's AI patches. Hence he sent me a load of them too :P. I remember when God Orochi got leaked. There was like, an hour to download it..then the thread got deleted. :P

You still 'in there' (mugen) or can i get some intell off you? :p

I uh, still dabble every now and then. Left my mugen backup at my uncles, so i can pick it up next week, so i can play it again. TBH, it gets boring when you've got the best char version for almost every game. I was a dab hand with Dark Arcuid IIRC.

@ On topic :

So, can i just get a few things straight.

Does the Hyperion suck complete ass?

Hype is very good in certain situations (small scale fights, BS 1v1s, losec camps), but really shines with high skills, good fittings and boosters. Active tanks generally tend to be less effective in larger scale fights, and using the hype in remote rep gangs and larger fights isn't a great idea because you have to drop guns to fit utility mods.
