The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Guys is it worth starting a new account with EVE now? Is there a OCUk corp or anything? How many hours do you need to commit? I used to have an account but never really found a point to playing?

If you didnt like it the first time then you probably still wont it hasnt changed much over the years it just gets new ships and tweaks

OcUK have an alliance in the game - join the channel ocuk.

How many hours you need to commit entirely depends on how you play... training goes on even when your not playing so its just a case of finding a way to make money that takes up as little time as possible and dedicating the rest to whatever you plan on doing in the game.

Yes way i did its not that hard, some of them are easy, i am using a nice setup its fully passive so the neut towers do not affect me, here it is. The mission i did was this one

You fly with one civilian gun?

Judging from the large amounts of powergrid and cpu left he didn't bother fitting weapons to it in EFT. Afterall he was only showing it can tank well enough to do the mission.

Guns on an ishtar is pointless tbh, most of them use capacitor to activate and i dont have any because of the neut towers, the civilian gun is purely to get aggro from the NPCs, even if it doesnt hit it makes them attack me and head towards me.

I used to run Serpentis exploration sites in :

For low sec exploration sites in Gallente space. Works really well. I would go shield tank but I need the mids for the sensor booster as serps sensor damp, the analyser and codebreaker for hacking sites and archaeology and the salvagers and tracto beams for salvaging sites also.

Made a lot of money with this setup, had an alt doing the probing and this ship to run the sites I found. Could do them all except the gravi mining sites :) But then I got my alt into a hulk as well so he could do all aspects of explorations (except whs)

Heh thats what i thought kola but i got sick of just sitting in the station doing nothing so i decided to train some usefull skills.

Ive been looking at character auctions on the eve forums and it filled me with dissapointment. 91million sp characters and i have not even broken 4million? jeez....

your character looks fine apart from
9 Industry skills trained, for a total of 56,920 skillpoints. << :( just imo though

Meh SPs are a curse sometimes :) I have a lot of SP spread over a large area and as such I am **** at flying all the ships I have :(

That's why I sold one of my characters it had 23mill sp with 15mill in spaceship command lol every time I saw a cool looking ship I would train for it ..

Yeah i wanted to go into building ships etc when i first started, i didnt realise you could make a lot of money from salvaging and ratting.. So i probably wont spend any more time in that section.

Going to train up heavy missiles or hams and then work up my shield defence and do some low sec ratting.

I love how ccp have approached this though, making isk and char trading legal.

concentrating on flying a battlecruiser will do you well in ratting in 0.0 and pvp so its a win win .

Can anyone give me advice on what i should train next? Like core skills every pilot should have...

Get your learning skills to 4 (except the social skills.) Definately a good start.

After that I'd look at getting Frig 5, definately a useful skill to have when it comes to PVP. If you've got Frig 5 you're close enough to jumping in an Interceptor, can jump in a covops etc...small relatively cheap T2 ships but an easy way to make a low SP pilot much more useful to a PVP corp.

If you're planning on ratting in lowsec get Heavy Missiles up, I'd go so far as to say 5 - gives you the option of T2 launchers, which means high damage ammo - thinking ahead, this will come in handy for PVP if you decide you want to go down that route. As someone else said, getting in a BC is the way to go, and for Caldari thats gotta be the Drake - brilliant ship.

Oh, and resists to 4.
