The *Official* Eve Online Thread

What? Lol, I didn't bother renewing my sub for that exact reason! aha, teaches me to not rear that patch notes!

It was a bit unfair to be honest. Why should someone without a subscribtion be able to set a 30 day skill to train and progress in the game as much as a person who does have a subscription.

Although i was lucky enough that when i last didn't renew my account last year, i had caldari BS 5 trainging when i left, and that finished b4 this change went live :D so when i came back to my character for this 5 day thing, my combat character has both caldari and minmatar BS at 5 :D

I don't think it was unfair really, I played the game because I wanted to be in game. the whole skill training while non sub just kept me re-subbing so I could switch skills and play for a bit, now I'm not gonna re-sub unless there is a really good reason.

How many other games of this sort allow you go progress while your sub is on hold.
Just because it suited you to have skill training while not paying does not make it fair.

Maybe I'm simply getting boring in my old(er) age but does anyone else find the Courier missions a good way of getting some easy ISK? I've completed some tonight which has earn't me around 20~ mill and I've just had my client running in the backround whilst I play Fifa :D. Perfeck!!

tbh it's not unfair and I'd go as far as to say that everyone did it! I really don't see how anyone looses out from it really (apart from CCP)

it was quite a usefull way to attact people back to the game if ever they had to take a break imo, i wouldn't say it was unfair at all, its not as if it was an exploit that only a few people knew about. I don't know if i'll be renewing my sub when my current game time expires in a week or two. If i set a nice long skill i would have had Black ops now" but alas no :(

Im so temped to resub, stopped playing because my pirate buddy rage quit from getting added when beating someone up in lowsec. I just remembered i have a slave set on my -10 character that i used like twice!

What are nanno hacs like these days? I have a nanno ishtar, but i cant remember my skills and cant access the API to see what its speed is like theese days without a snake set.

Your still playing while not paying & that's the unfair part because skill progress is timebase so the people paying & playing are at no advantage than the people who are not.
Everyone doing it does not make it right at all & as i asked you before no other game of its type allowed you to do it & if they did not make that mistake at first then you would be none the wiser & would not have nothing to complain about & CCP have done nothing wrong by stopping it because as you like to put it all other pay for MMO's don't allow you to progress in anyway while sub is on hold.
So now the only people losing out are the ones not paying & not CCP (rightly so as its their game)& the paying customers.

You pay you can train skills, you don't then you can't. Sounds fair. Why is it fair to have a system where people who know this trick get to train skills at half price assuming they do not want to play.

It was obviously abused by industry alts.

More money for CCP is better for everyone.

Went to a station in 0.4 tonight to pick up Caldari Cruiser book to learn, got my Badger destroyed and got podded while tabbed out then Emo'd.

Off to try out LOTRO now having decided I still don't like PvP in any MMO of any type.

It wasn't a trick that only some people knew about, it was in the player guide for everyone to see & make use of.

Which its intended purpose was probably not used in a way CCP envisioned so they closed that trick.
which was likely, Don't panic if your sub runs out before your training & not please exploit to the fullest extent & plan your training for the least payments possible because we want less money. :)

I played in beta and I played for about three years after that.

If it was a mistake to leave training going on then they would have fixed it a long time ago, they only did it to make more money and nothing else.

It wasn't a trick, it wasn't an exploit it was a feature of the game.
