The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I remember the first time I lost a ship as a complete noob in 2005, the guy who killed me felt sorry. I'd wondered into low sec. Got chatting to him in local (from my ransomed pod) and he gave me a few pointers. Was probably the best thing that happened to me tbh. Eventually he let me go and gifted me some isk. I didn't realise at the time he gave me 10 times what the ship was worth and some useful advice. Didn't take a note of his name though, wish I had

Was it Lofty who used the war dec trick to snag faction fit mission runners? Now those tears were enjoyable to watch :D

Seeing people lose billions worth of ISK makes me tingly inside :)

for the older guys, 2004 or 2005 i think it was, they gave people snowball launchers for xmas one year you could go round having snowball fights without concord intervention (no damage of course).
We discovered you could snowball someones drones and the drones shot you back causing concord to kill the guy who owned the drones rofl.

great fun

Thought it couldn't be that long ago as I'm 2007 and have one. Also in 2005 though :)

Snowball Launcher

An otherworldly glow emanates from this strange and outlandish-looking device. Its missile tubes look suspiciously capable of fitting a huge snowball, and from looking at it, you get the distinct impression that quite an amount of minerals went into its making.

Given to players as part of the Christmas celebrations in EVE at downtime on the 19th of December 2008. One per character, left in the hangar of your medical clone station, along with Snowball MMVIII. Not refinable, manufacturable or sellable on the market. Also previously given away to players in December 2005. These were notorious for various CONCORD related griefing tactics.

Thought I best add that before you oldies batter me down ;)

I did try EVE in 2005 but didn't stick with it. Might try and find that account somewhere would be funny.
