They done it with Penn vs Edgar, Edgar vs Maynard and Shogun vs Machida. It's been happening a lot as of late.

For years a fighter would have to build himself back up to be a challenger for the title, it's not the same now. Look at some of the guy's who have had great win streaks in the UFC but are left dangling as they can't be marketed for PPV buy's.

I would be a bit gutted if I was a fighter who was overlooked for someone who has a big mouth.

I really find it hard to see how it's in the same boat as Edgar Maynard and Shogun Machida, both those fights were razor close decisions, from what I saw Condit comprehensively beat Diaz.

The UFC money making machine rolls on. They clearly wanted Diaz to beat Condit to setup a showdown with GSP that would have been massive.

Hence the immediate rematch. It's a joke, I hope Condit turns it down.

You came with a **** gameplan and had no plan B whatsoever, you deserved to get beat, live with it.

I don't see it the same as those fights either but as Condit won and Condit Vs GSP is not as big a money maker as GSP vs Diaz the UFC will arrange a rematch.

Condit has accepted the fight, it's on the underground.

No word on Diaz yet though, I can't see him turning it down. I'm sure his retirement was just a hissy fit.

Please, if your going to come up with such drivel, stop posting. If you seriously believe not getting pinned against the fence and resetting to the middle of the octagon is 'running away' then i seriously do not know what to tell you.

How is what I said drivel?

Please bare in mind that I've been watching MMA since the days of PRIDE, I'm not some "Just Bleed" moron who wants a fighter to "stand and bang" - I appreciate all aspects of MMA.

Condit was back pedalling the whole time, he did not come forward and push the pace, he was content to avoid exchanges and counter. If both fighters did this there would be no punches thrown in the entire fight. I understand that he did not want to get pinned against the cage where Diaz would work him, however I do not see how you can win a fight when you spend 90% of it moving backwards.

You're acting like I'm saying that Condit should have stood infront of Diaz and just thrown down with him, I have not said that, it would have been stupid. However there is a middle ground between "stand and bag" and "lap and tap" - for example circling away from the cage, avoid getting cut off, but when in the centre of the cage he could have pushed the action and really attacked Diaz's lead leg, I mean really punish it like Cyborg did, take away some of that spring and his ability of cut him off. Condit showed a complete lack of agression.

If you were in Condits corner, its pretty much a 99% given Diaz is going to walk forward and look to put pressure on you. There was never a danger of no punches being thrown. Hence why the gameplan could have worked as it did. Sparingly, when there was no pressure from Diaz, Condit did take advantage.

Beacuse even though he was moving backwards he was still outstriking Diaz.

Condit showed a complete lack of agression.

As for Condit showing a complete lack of agression, how do you explain him landing 159 strikes to Diaz's 117 if he lacked agression?

I agree with roid on this one, how can Condit be accused of having a lack of aggression when he out landed Diaz?

I think people are just disappointed that he never went in and just stood and traded with Diaz but to do that would be beyond stupid.

What if Condit wins again? What if Diaz wins? Then we have to watch them fight again? What if Condit wins the third time?

I'm more hyped for Condit/GSP considering what he just did to Diaz.

If Diaz wins we get GSP vs Diaz, if Condit wins again he gets GSP.

Diaz losing twice to Condit will make Condit vs GSP a bigger draw anyway.

So Condit will basically get = 0 out of it.

Apart from a fight purse of course, and what you would expect to be a significant locker bonus. From a rankings point of view, he stands to gain nothing.

Oh I know that, but in this case it was the right decision.

An if Diaz fights the way he did the first time it will happen again.

awesome news and I am glad condits agreed, the issue really is why sit on the shelf for 7 months till GSP arrives, surely by now every mma fighter has seen what rashad evans mess involved and that poor bloke still aint had his shot !

I would rather see condit take on the rematch and get paid 200K + and more then likely danas gonna throw a lot more money for these 2 guys to duke it out again... hes surely saved a ton cos he has not had to pay GSP ;)

If the moneys the right amount diaz will come back, in fact it almost sounds like nick perhaps was doing it on purpose with his retirement speech guess thats one way to increase the $$$. Kids 28 years old still got plenty of losses and wins in his career.

I can see nick doing whatever it takes to get a hold of condit and bjj, he aint gonna escape again lol

I just hope its not in august as rumoured they should try and do it for summer at least... or sooner

Where we see a dispute, Dana sees $$$ :) and rightly so, I'm more interested in the rematch than I was for the first fight which I only got because it was free :)
