It's a bit like when you're playing a video game for so long you get bored of it and start doing crazy things to keep the interest going. Take for example the GTA games. After a while you don't care anymore and start trying to do backflips on motorbikes.

That's one of the strangest analogies I think I've ever read!

Like tbh says, the guy is a fighter at the very top of his profession - I can't imagine he act's like he does because he's bored!

He isn't Superman, he got clipped and Weidman put him away very well - it happens to 99.9% of competitors in virtually every sport!

To say he "chose" to lose, without him coming out and saying it, is ludicrous! (and very insulting to Weidman!)

Not to mention it makes a mockery of the sport.

****es over his loyal fans and his country.

Ruin his reputation and his gym.

He was show boating and got clipped. His pride is hurt and I bet he feels like a right mug

The showboating is typical silva, he's done it in a lot of fights, he does it to lure people in and make them fight how he wants to fight. It's worked so well for him in the past apart from the first sonnen fight. The last thig silva wated was to get into a wrestling match. He got caught because Chris kept his cool and didn't get lured in like everyone else does. I'm glad he lost, it's been a long time coming.

I bet sonnen is kicking himself that he doesn't have as much power as Chris did :p

It's no difference to what he did to forest but he came in swinging for the fences and got caught

Again, how on earth have you come to that conclusion!?!?!

Did you even watch the post-fight interview? All the signals were there that he didn't want the belt any more - "I'm tired", "family" etc et...

Moreover, it doesn't take anything away from Weidman.. Weidman had already sussed Silva's style and knew what to expect. But it also doesn't change the obviousness of Silva not wanting the belt any more. Why would he say "I want another 10 fights but I don't want to fight for the belt".

A fighter that has just be humbled/embarrassed . Give it a few weeks and he'll have changed his mind.

It's a crying shame that the fight stopped so quickly as Criss had a huge right hand coming down which clipped the ref's leg. Would have been nice to she his head bounce off the mat a few more times :D

it was great to see the back of the guy, the amount of fights he ruined and made a mockery of was ridiculous. Couldnt stand the man. I jumped out of my seat for joy when he went down.

Yeah, coz people never make excuses or say things they don't mean in an interview 30 seconds after getting their *** handed to them! :p

As for the "obviousness of Silva not wanting the belt anymore", I guess I'm just not as good a mind reader as you are.

:)

Perhaps you would have liked Herb Dean to hand Weidman a steel chair so he could beat Silva into a coma?

Any one read Jones interview about the fight? Really makes some great comments about Silva and the way he been acting lately

It's Silva. Pretty sure I'm not the only one who would have enjoyed it.

It didn't take long for the UFC's next blockbuster pay-per-view to start piecing itself together.

Wednesday morning, four days after Anderson Silva lost his middleweight championship to Chris Weidman in bizarrely spectacular fashion, "The Spider" had an abrupt change of heart, requesting an immediate rematch to be scheduled as soon as possible.

The news likely thrilled UFC President Dana White, who expects to speak to Silva via phone on Thursday to discuss specifics, according to a report from the New York Post.

A Super Bowl weekend date in New Jersey was initially believed to be the frontrunner for such an event, however widespread buzz over the past few days has led White to nix those plans and consider staging what he believes will be "the biggest event in UFC history" at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas, which holds a maximum standing capacity of 105,000.

Needless to say, folks, this story is far from over. But in the meantime, let's jump headfirst into some headlines.

The rematch was always inevitable when Silva has 10 fights left on his contract, he was gutted he lost especially in the fashion he did and i think that clearly got to him and his emotions in the post fight interview with Joe.

Happy for Weidman though fully deserved, Silva didnt respect him enough.
