I'm so glad this thread is back on the up I've been back on FM for a few weeks now as Newcastle trying to revieve my own personal old FM glory days.

Firstly... i hate Van Der Vaart :/ Bought him in initially because Modric was snapped up by Milan He was amazing - 40 odd appearances, 30ish goals and 30ish assists... Chelsea have a look at him and he gets upset because I negotiated on a 10m offer! luckily for me, i went stupid and said 30m... which they paid Collocini then got upset and wanted to leave but he cost 11.5 and offers were only coming in at 5. He has been upset for me for ... coming up to a year now.

Doing really well in the league this season. If i win my game in hand i'm 3 points clear with 3 home games left to go and I've just lost 4 - 3 in the first leg of the Champions League Semi Vs Man U. 3 - 0 down, back to 3 - 3 and then the inevitable corner and Ronaldo header follows... 4 - 3 But none the less i'll take 3 away goals happily to the next leg

Had to reinstall FM today, so just started with Fulham. Trying to think of another team to be but i cant decide . I tried Leyton Orient and Palace, but got bored

Installed it on the iMac .

I wanna play my Sutton Utd game, but some reason it wont work now since saving it .

Just closes FM and says saved game could not be loaded. Will try again at some point, but not too bothered, only got to something like 2012-13.

Guys.

Having read numerous posts on here of people reinstalling FM on a new machine and subsequently losing their save game data. I was wondering who has managed to do this and successfully port their save game?

My new uber laptop should be arriving soon and the desktop going to my brother (I hate it went the wife gets her own way), and I do not want to lose my 15 season long Lyon save, otherwise the laptop might meet its grizzly end against the wall.

All you need to do is backup the save game file and perhaps also the database if you made a custom game.

If you used the original database without editing it at all, or the updated one from installing the patch, you can simply drag your old game save, as mentioned, but remember to stop it from compressing when you come to saving again (in game).

Ive just started a new game with the Weegie update.
Going for the all (mostly) Italian look.

First transfer window, i bought these first teamers:
Lino Marzoratti - £875k
Hugo Llorais - £11.5m
Mamadou Sakho - 210k
Daniele Dessena - £6m
Rafael VanDerVaart - £11m
Riccardo Montolivo - £13m

Then i set it to run the first season on its own, as i couldnt be bothered and wanted to get on with the rebuilding process.
Beginning of second season i bought:
Alessandro Rosina - £13m
Fabio Quagliarella - £21m
Matteo Rubin - £8.5m
Paolo De Ceglie - £8.4m
Marco Borriello - £7.25m

So now, just before the super cup my first team is this:
GK: Llorais / Abbiati
DL: De Ceglie / Rubin
DC: Nesta / Sakho
DC: Bonera / Marzoratti
DR: Zambrotta / Oddo
MC: Gatusso / Dessena
MC: Flamini / Ambrosini
AMC: VanDerVaart / Rosina
AMC: Kaka / Pirlo
AMC: Quagliarella / Montolivo
ST: Pato / Borriello

So thats 16/22 Italians! .

Next targets are:
Criscito to replace Bonera.
Andreolli to replace Marzoratti.
Ramos to replace Nesta.

Just need to sort out my coaches now...

So when you say Pato/Borriello for example does that mean that the first player is the senior player in that position, i.e. plays first if both fit?

Not too sure whether to carry on with old game or to start a new one.

hi guys, ive re-installed the game and im looking for my links again

can anyone link me to this forum where they had LOADS of guides. like a really good guide in team talk pre-match, half time and post match and what to do in different situations (home away, against bitter rivals etc). also had lots of info on training schedules etc.

Also whats the best patch to use atm? i've seen talk of a weegie patch but im not sure what it does currently signing up to the forums.

i have tried searching my old posts in this thread to no avail lol.

help a tired man in dire need of some FM08

The Weegie patch adds more up-to-date data such as new contracts and stadium upgrades etc. I don't think they change the player stats as such.

Yes.

Nah not really. You play from the same start date but either the January transfers have already happened or they happen in January as they did in real-life. It is one or the other.

Nah, constant rotations as before. .
Im being vicious with my dealings though. So i payed £7.25m for Borriello, but he'll be getting loaned out/sold at the end of the season as i plan to spend big on Pazzini.
