They're the hardest of the 'big teams' to start off with imo.
Small transfer budget for what needs doing, and in need of almost the entire team bar a few players.
And the ones that are worth keeping, bar 3, are all too old to use for more than a season or two.
I suppose in a way that is actually an advantage as you know you need to replace nearly the whole team so you have a focus from the beginning whereas with the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Barcelona etc there isn't that problem of the entire team needing to be changed so you tend to look for players to improve the team where you can rather than need to change the whole team. :)

Bit of a bug?
:D I think so yes. Check out SIGames' forum for any info on that.

Anyone got some thoughts on this:
Pirlo is 30 at the moment in my game, by the end of this season he'll be 31. So by 32-33 i'll have to look for a replacement.
A certain Giovinco has been made available for £20m.
Replace Pirlo early?
Can you not afford to get both? I would. Keep Pirlo until he's too old and let Giovinco share the place in the team. :)

FM Live is an online version of the game.

And advice time. :p Adriano of Inter/Sao Paolo fame for £7m?

This is my current team.

And this is formation I am planning on using.

http://www.marclister.co.uk/ocuk/images/utdformation.jpg

So I will be using one up front striker which will rotate between Rooney/Tevez/Huntelaar I think. Haven't sold anyone yet but planning on selling Fletcher if I can get a bid of £5m+ now I have Zapater. Looking on getting Eduardo from Bogafoto so if he signs Silvestre is out. :) Neville in the reserves as he's injured long term. Might try and sell Manucho for about £3-4m seeing as there is only one striker position and Manucho is nowhere near as good as Huntelaar. :p

Got Barzagli as I was making offers for players left, right and centre and then planning to choose who to sign based on who wanted to sign first. Well I've almost got all the players I want and can realistically afford. Might be getting Luiz Jimenez as well. :p

OH WTF!!!!??

Bolton have made an offer worth up to £6,500,000 for Arsenal's Mamadou Sahko.

Chairman Peter Hill-Wood felt this offer was too good to refuse and has decided to take matters into his own hands by accepting this bid etc etc etc.

WTF. **** off  :(
You could offer Sakho a new contract that is better than what he's on now and hope he's loyal. :)

Have you both got the latest 8.0.2 patch?

There is also a fix that involves going into the editor and changing some stuff around but the easiest way is to make sure you have the latest 8.0.2 patch. :)

I have 8.0.2 118048 (m.e v665). This should be the latest build of 8.0.2 that fixes the clauses. In FM go to Options>Game Status and then in the game information section look at the game version. :)

Other wise go into the editor, go to Clubs and search for Portsmouth. Then go to the finances bit I think and where it lists Defoe it will say "each game" or something which is the problem as Pompey have to pay £5m each game Defoe plays. Change it to after 50 games. Then save the db and make a new game.

Hmm 2013? Zapater would be 27/28? :)

:D

I really do like the "Touted as the next..." feature though, I think it makes searching for players quite a bit more interesting. I had the next Clarence Seedorf and the next Raul, both turned out to be immense as well.

A Turkish player came through my youth system who was said to be the next <Insert Random Name Here>. I did a bit of googling and it turned out to be a famous Turkish international from the 1930's-'40's! :)
At Utd I've got some young reserve team player who is the next Les Ferdinand.

I'd keep quiet about that if it were me. :D

Yeah I had a Les Ferdinand but he lost that title :(

Just been going through my youngsters and I have the next Albertini
Albertini?

barca got him and won't sell
Damn! :(

Veloso?

is there an updated database that lets you start from the end of the 2007/2008 season. Preferably pre-any transfer activity as that's the biggest part of the game for me. Would be nice to have all the promotions/relegations in place.
Weegie?

Lol, and the keepers were quaking in their boots, I'm sure.
They were as it happens. :p

Vanden Borre has played well for me as a DM, as well as someone called Robbe Van Ruyskensvelde.
RVR is fairly young as well; I think he was dubbed the next someone when I first bought him, can't remember who it was, though, I just remember it being a decent player.
Vanden Borre was pretty good in FM05/06 I think wasn't he? Officially a DR but also pretty good at WBR, MR and even AMR.

Sshhhh, don't tell anyone, but I'm still playing 07... :p
He's got immense stats and, as you said, can play pretty much anywhere on the right or centre.
 FM07?! You getting FM09 then?

unless my google powers are wilting I can only see a Weegie update from December?
Let me have a google for you. :) There should be an update for January.

Italian centre midfield playmaker... Played for Milan... :p Demetrio Albertini. Just bought another who is also considered the next Albertini.
Ah. Not heard of him. :)

Good plan sir! And it worked!
Top stuff.

Yup, patched up to date.
Again top stuff.

In other news, Valencia want £74.8 million plus Eduardo, for Silva- worth it? :D
Eduardo? Are we talking Les Gooners ici? :p Silva? As in David Silva? As in the one with the £62m buyout fee? Unless he's signed a new contract with a higher minimum release fee I see no reason to give Valencia £75m PLUS a player!

Silva as a player is worth it but to give away a player and £75m is where you get into the land of use the £75m to buy 3-4 other quality players who won't be as good as Silva individually but collectively work well for you and you get to keep Eduardo. :)

So you are one of the "SI don't improve FM enough each year to justify buying it every year so I'll get it every two years" brigade? :p

Never made it far enough into a game to living in a world where the big players of today are gone and its all regens. :(

Lol lazy get. :p

In a way I hate getting ex-players to join the coaching team. Say I get Giggs, Scholes and Neville to become coaches the cheeky gets all ask for their playing salaries as their coaching salaries.

So there is me thinking that when they retire and join the club as coaches I can get the wage bill down a bit to afford the wages of their replacements. No chance. :p

My mates saved game got corrupted. He had been playing 07 for about a year straight and was up to 2039 or something stupid. Made me laugh anyway :D

Just out of interest. Anyone ever managed Hyypia from Liverpool? Another friend of mine had him playing till he was around 38 in the first team. His overall stats hardly decreased and his pace/acceleration stayed roughly around the same (already slow enough!)

I always feel sorry for the so called world class players from years gone by who end up playing at cranky clubs. Deco was at a first division side in England if i'm not mistaken and Gerrard was playing for Plymouth around the age of 36. :D
Ouch! Did he not back the game up?

Yep, Gooner Eduardo. I have £96 million burning a hole in my pocket! Squad is currently:

GK: Fabianski / Ruffier
DL: Sakho / Traoré
DR: Sagna / Can't remember
DC: Richards / Breno
DC: Touré / Djourou
ML: Rosicky / Sergio Mota
MR: Arteta / Hleb
MC: Pirlo / Diaby
MC: Fabregas / Modric
FC: Podolski / Eduardo
FC: Van Persie / Adebayor

David Silva currently has a £106 million buy out clause, lol. Eduardo has been doing ok in the last 3 seasons, consistent when he does play but not spectacular, but keeps picking up random injuries. Looking for a decent right winger really, Arteta/Hleb are being average, meh! Hence I was wondering if £75m+ was worth it on Silva, as I only really need one player and I'd like it to be someone like him. Can you recommend any equivalents that aren't going to break transfer fee records across the universe? :p
Ah well then. :)

If you are confident your team will be stable for a few years and won't need to buy in lots of new players go for it. First though try offer £40m, £50m etc until they accept.

Otherwise Matias Fernandez of Villareal fame is pretty good. In FM he's a right-footed AM LC so he could probably be trained up to be an AM RLC. :)

Tell him he's a pillock. :D

Doesn't FM have some helpful saving system? Just checked and it is called "Auto Save Mode". With Single File, Incremental Auto Save, 3 File Rolling Auto Save, 5 File Rolling Auto Save and 10 File Rolling Auto Save.
