***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

is there an app that will let me stream vids/pics to my tv?

also, must have accessories?

Depends on what you mean, just connection up with a cable with allow you to mirror the phone onto the TV.

I use Plex to stream content from my PC to my tablet and connect it to a TV with HDMI, is that what your after?

So I have a week off, my contract is over, do I try (or is it even possible) to get one for under 30 a month with 100 mins, 750meg (at least) inet, 1000+ texts? Network tmobile /orange or reluctantly o2 (or any operator who piggy backs their network)

Annoying I don't like the sgs2 as it sounds better on paper. Or there's the razr I haven't dismissed yet.

I've gone from an SGS2 and the Nexus is a lot better. On paper, the only advantages of the Nexus are a better screen and ICS, but those are big and important things. The SGS2's screen, whilst reasonable enough, is too low resolution for the size and it also has a lot of colour-banding. As for Gingerbread, it's reasonable enough but it's very plain to see that ICS is long overdue.

The Razr is nice, but it's only Gingerbread and the screen isn't very good apparently.

GN all the way! :D

The razr also has a massive bezel!

The GN screen has a good ppi fairly similar to my desire, am I likely to get it for sub 30 per month? My desire was brand new on release and i got that for 25£ per month

One important point.. Will the battery last 24 hours on this? With normal use like browsing, texts, mp3 during say lunch breaks? My desire is shocking for battery.

Another question.. I've heard the screen isn't as saturated as the sgs2 and i know i like high saturation.
Also is the loud speaker bad? I do use my desire one quite a lot?

Just ordered through o2 retentions.

£36 per month
12 month contract
400 minutes
Unlimited texts
1gb internet
£172 upfront for the phone, originally was looking for £249

I was also offered:

£36 per month
18 month contract
400 minutes
Unlimited texts
1gb internet
£101 upfront for the phone.

I told them about GiffGaff and she was more than happy to double my internet and drop the price, charming lady too, more than made up for the 30 minutes on hold listening to "music".

I went with the 12 month contract, as any sane person would have. I much prefer the option to upgrade early, plus I get to keep my early upgrade as a valued customer so I can potentially upgrade again in 9 months. Meaning my G Nexus will still hold onto a lot of its value if I chose to sell it, and if not then I get a free brand new phone I can sell instead..... Now to try this with my fathers business account and see what we can get........Plus I still have my GiffGaff sim for unlimited internet should I really need it.

As a way of understanding, I am currently paying:

£38 per month
18 month contract
400 minutes
Unlimited texts
500 mb internet
iPhone 4 that cost me £299 on contract, but will send back to o2 for £242, so I am up money! ;)

Try GiffGaff if you want PayGo, you will get all that for £10 a month.

Free £5 on the below link, but they are definitely worth reading about, I highly recommend them.

Stop posting Affiliate links!

Or phone your retentions department of your network and tell them you want to leave......

The GN's screen is close to the iPhone 4 in terms of quality - it makes the UI look lovely and clean, without jaggies. It's not in your face saturation, but the colours it produces are fine and they aren't as jarring as the SGS2. As for battery, at the moment I'm a little bit disappointed but it should make it through 24 hours. And I would only expect battery to get better with 3rd-party ROMs :)

After reading more about this phone I'm pretty disappointed, it's nothing special really. I've just ordered a GiffGaff sim and I'm keeping my Desire until next March when the new HTC's are out.

lol compared to your desire its very special....

if you said like me you had a SGS2 or maybe a sensation then you could argue that point, but its quite a big improvement on the Desire,

just cos your not getting one don't knock it to make yourself feel better :D

I didn't know Andy had done one. He came to the conclusion the Galaxy Nexus is better though, which is a bit odd as the SGS2 seems to capture detail a lot better, especially outdoors.

That wasn't me, it was Raju, who was about 6th in the queue on launch day :)

Unfortunately (from a reviewing point of view) I picked the Nexus up on the 17th and then flew to San Francisco on the 18th! I did get to visit Google HQ yesterday though (pictures on my Google+ in sign :) )

Yeah I saw that now, either way there are some nice shots.

The camera certainly isn't worrying me. Often you find yourself having to suffer taking pictures in low-light and it seems extremely good at that.

For those asking about the notification LED, it's an RGB LED but there is no native way of using it's capabilities in ICS... pretty dumb. However, LIGHT FLOW on the Market works just fine - so you can customise all manner of colours for all your notifications. Don't kill it in the Tasks/Recent apps list though or it stops working.

As for the speaker volume I found it pitifully weak. Surprised that people coming from a DHD were happy as my DHD is definitely louder on max volume with the exact same MP3 files. Anyway, VOLUME+ in the Market fixes the Nexus (app is free from the developer's website if you don't want to pay the 99p or 99c or whatever it is).

Ive upgraded from a Dersire to a Nexus and its a huge step up, the size and quality of the screen and ICS make it worth the upgradeyet even though its much bigger it strangly doesnt feel to big.
