**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

Am I understanding this correctly.

Less water proofing
Not the same latest gorilla glass that pixel 3 has
Plastic body instead of metal
No wireless charging
Worse cpu
Smaller screen (though no notch)
No full res photo back up online.

All for what, £75 less than o2 were selling the phone SIM free 2 weeks ago?

No notch but at the cost of MASSIVE bezels, really makes the phone look old in an age of budget phones that have edge to edge displays.

That being said I still beleive it's a solid phone for the money, you have one of the best cameras, the latest updates, oled disply, and a headphone jack.

The new AR navigation is now activated on all Pixels in google maps. I've not used it outside yet but it's something that I'm sure will come useful especially on holidays.

I was going to make a dedicated thread about this, it's that awesome!

Been waiting a year since they showcased it at the 2018 I/O

tbh i found the walking nav to be poor as it was often hard to tell if the phone was pointing in the correct direction until you'v walked for a minute down one way and it realises which way you've set off.

That's why I can sometimes be seen in the street swirling my phone in a figure 8 in the air... You look an idiot, but it does work.

My Pixel 2XL was utterly hopeless when I was recently in Manchester so while this is nice to have, probably not very useful if the GPS cant get a proper lock anyway. The 3 might be better in this respect though, to be fair.

Is everyone aware you get a free £119 Google Nest Hub thingy if you buy from the Google Store? It even works if you buy more than one.

Initially impressions pretty good. Somehow arrived in way under 24 hours. Nicer to hold than my Pixel XL and I prefer plastic phones as they look better for longer and don't break as easily. Most noticeable thing is the smaller bezels than I'm used to. Makes the screen feel so long.

call me mad but ive just ordered a 3a with a case and the nesthub deal.

I've had my iphone SE for a good few years now and just fancied the change. What is offer's fits my needs so im pretty happy. I had a S7 edge a few years ago but didnt get on with it - fancied giving a pure google device a try now that my home is full of smart things. Compulsory photo expect on Thursday.

So I took the plunge with the 3a. It’s fantastic. Camera - amazing, size is perfect, don’t notice any slowdown other than the initial setup when installing all my apps. Screen is great. It feels really light in the hand and I don’t mind the plastic build.

I had a Pixel 3 briefly before and I don’t know why anyone would pay the extra. The only thing I miss is wireless charging, but even then the battery life on the 3a seems better.

Exceeded all expectations I had given the price point.
