**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

I'm sure his oh dear comment was due to lack of RAM and reloading of apps. As said 4GB is paltry for a flagship. No reason for it.

We all know the Apple chip is fast. And a different OS is going to yield another parameter.
Hi yes, sorry should have written a bit more

Disappointment in the ram management on the pixel.

I guess the answer people have will be let's hope Google will fix in an update

App reloading, battery life and microphone quality are by far the 3 main issues I have. Kind of want to cancel my order but there's nothing out there that I want more than this right now and the reg 3 size is pretty much perfect for me. That being said if it wasn't for the fact I've ordered and gone through a contract credit check and was looking to purchase my own home soon I'd maybe have cancelled and opted for something else when it arises.

The back scratching is another thing to consider

its cleans off according to a video? and i always use a case, i work in a dusty melt shop :D. The OPO 6T may make me cancel if camera is good, if not im staying firm with it and ill cope and hope things get patched.

You should check out the Jerry Rigs Everything durabity test...the back scratching is the first thing that has actually concerned me. This phone is going to be skinned for sure.

Are you running the res at FHD+ or QHD+? That would make a difference. And app reloads shouldn't be a thing on a phone at this price.

I've always had it set to QHD - I can't really see THAT big a difference but if it's there, I might as well use it :)

I watched this and was a little confused, he makes all those scratches and says they don't even rub off... then he rubs them all off... He does almost carve the weird thing at the end, by that time all the first marks had basically gone!

It's weird isn't it. The initial surface side part of the scratches rub off but the deeper stuff stays.

MKBHD managed to scratch his by putting it on the table a bit.

But I see our resident apologist is still here in full swing

I agree with Andy. The only visible damage at the end of the video is the circle he drew when talking about the 3 colours of a pixel.

That Erica mentioned about different hardness of materials and anything less than gorilla glass would rub off like she managed. It will be a pain having to give it a good clean though all the time. Some guy on Xda dropped the night mode apk and there saying it's amazing and I believe it works on pixel 2.

Anyone wanting to use the 'nacho notch' app to blackout the notch-ears. Apparently using this means the navbar says white the whole time, so not ideal.

I might end up trying the XDA Navigation Gestures app anyway, as I'm not sure on having the nav bar there when gestures should moot it really.

Google limits Pixel 3 wireless charging rate to standard 5W for third-party charging pads

We already knew that Google's Assistant UI would only work on the Pixel Stand. This decision by Google, while annoying, is understandable. Less understandable is the recent discovery that the Pixel 3 and 3 XL will only wirelessly charge at 10W on the Pixel Stand, with all third-party wireless chargers limited to the much slower 5W.

A reader recently purchased a 10W Anker wireless charger to wirelessly fast charge his Pixel 3 with, only to discover that the phone was only getting a maximum of 500mA via the charging app Ampere. He contacted Anker and received this response:

"Also, what we learned is that Google's official wireless charger can provide 10W for the newly-released Pixel 3 and Pixel XL 3, however, according to our quality engineer, Pixel sets a limitation for a third-party charging accessories and we are afraid that even our fast wireless charger can only provide 5W for these 2x devices. Our quality team is to purchase this new models to have a try, once we get a test answer, we will keep the product page updated."

We reached out to Google PR and were told that the Pixel 3 would charge at 10W on the Pixel Stand due to a "secure handshake" being established, but that third-party chargers would indeed be limited to 5W. This is kind of a tasteless move from Google; neither Samsung (which pioneered fast wireless charging tech) nor Apple does this. So if you want fast wireless charging on your Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL, prepare to cough up $79 for a Pixel Stand.

Making things worse, the Pixel 3 will still say "Charging rapidly" on the always-on display even when charging at the limited 5W rate for whatever reason. Before finding out about this, I'd placed my Pixel 3 XL on both a Nimble 10W pad and a Samsung Fast Charge stand and was left confused at how slowly the phone was charging. At the very least, this behavior needs to be fixed. We've followed up with Google about this, and will update this post when we receive a response.

Lol Google.

white navbar? I've tried it on mine just to see what it's like and the navbar doesn't change

lol, when you want to go full on Apple, go full on Apple.
It sounds like they're using some form of device-charger handshake authentication or something if Anker are true with their statement. Similar to how those apple lightening cables work vs the non-complaint doge ones. Not good at all if true.
