@easyrider
5 short Beatles songs just for you from our practice on Thursday. It was the first time we'd done All You Need Is Love and She Loves You so pitching is off a bit.
You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get the timing on All You Need Is Love.
Same 3 blokes who were in The Trooper video above with Jule's (his back to you) future wife just off to the left on bass. I can't believe she has sat down and learned these songs in a couple of months from never picking an instrument up before.

MP3 of all the session including acoustic version of Sultans Of Swing and 4 Badfinger tunes

Prefer BYOME for $69
I already have most of the PA plugins including the SSL G, Byome is really the only one left that I want that's going to actually add something new to my toolbox apart from maybe VSC-2 but I already have a tonne of comps
I haven't bought a plugin in ages. I have too many, I'm always tempted though.
I have the waves and slate SSLs otherwise I'd probably jump at the PA ones.
It may well be but I can get decent enough mixes with slates SSL for me it wouldn't be worth the extra cost. I don't like the Waves one at all funnily enough.
PA-MEGA-20-OFF for $20 extra off on the PA sale, glad I waited before pulling the trigger but sucks for anyone who bought on day 1 of the sale
Regroover essential is also free at Plugin Boutique on any order, seems like a decent tool as well
Acoustic guitar (without a pickup) budget is as little as possible to get some decent entry level stuff i’m Happy to go second hand and accept that there will be limitations and later upgrades if I get hooked!
Reverb.com is your best bet for second hand hardware
Easyriders suggestion above is what I would go for, it'll last you for a good while but....if budget really is a concern you could get a super cheap behringer interface and an sm57. If you're completely new to it and want to experiment you could save some money for now but will want to upgrade in future.
.
Live drums are not on the agenda ....... yet!
Definitely going to start small and see how it goes i’ve got something new to browse on eBay and facebook local!
Just had this for the band so we should be able to do some great live recordings while out gigging.
We all go directly into the PA including electronic drums so all is controllable.
It can also be controlled with a Tablet and we can individually control our own in-ear mixes with our phones - super duper Tommy Cooper
Very tight on time but to summarise;
Gear looks fine.
Position? Lift the lid to its highest setting. As a *STARTING* point put the mics XY with the centre line pointing toward the middle of the lid, about 50cm back from the piano. Adjust to suit - get the player to do a minute or so or recording in sound check and listen back.
Don't use any camcorder audio, it'll be horrid. Just use artificial reverb if required, will sound far better.
I did mix the sound with the ambient sound of the camcorder mic. I think it sounds pretty decent, here's my performance. Please don't be too harsh
I think it sounds high quality but at the same time you definitely can hear that it was played in a big roomy church.
Thanks mag.
Interesting piece, 1, 2, 3... What are you using to make that? I like the strings.
Thanks easyrider, used these Russian badboys https://www.thomann.de/gb/oktava_mk_01201_mkii_matched_pair.htm
And the ambient sound was from my Sony FDR-AX55 camcorder.
It's those 2 mixed together.
The video I linked above which is me mic'ing my teachers piano has no ambient sound, it's purely the Oktava mics if you want to hear what they sound like isolated.
