*** The Official iOS 17 Thread ***

Anyone having issues with reminders on the latest IOS? My reminders seem to stay on the Lock Screen for a while, then disappear from the Lock Screen and Notification Centre, no matter how high a priority they are set at. On the previous versions reminders stayed on the Lock Screen until they were completed. Very frustrating as it’s making me forget several important tasks.

Edit - that’s with an iPhone 15.

No idea what it’s called but it’s easy to use. In the photos app, you just push and hold on the subject, the screen sort of glows as it selects the object and you get an option pop up to copy, add sticker or share.

Here’s a sample

Random question. How do you all type on iOS and iPadOS? I see YouTube videos where people use their thumbs to type on their phone but I've never been comfortable doing that as it feels too cramped. On the other hand on a full keyboard connected to my Mac Studio I can touch type just fine. On iOS I just use swipe to type.

On the iPhone I use SwiftKey for swiping as I find the built in Apple keyboard even for swiping a bit crap, SwiftKey does a much better job usually at predicting what I want. As for the iPad I find the built in Apple keyboard just fine as I use it like a regular keyboard and can type just as quick.

Weirdly 17.6 appears to have part bricked my wife's iPhone 15 Pro Max. It updated fine but now has no service, with any SIM card. I factory reset the phone and no change. Plugged it in to my Mac to do a restore and no change. I then tried reinstalling 17.5.1 which also made no change.

Left it on 17.5.1 overnight and magically there was service this morning, but after upgrading to 17.6 again it's back to no service. Guess we'll just have to see if 17.6 magically picks up service at some point and if not, roll back to 17.5.1 again and leave it at that in the hope that whatever update is out next fixes it, but given the lack of reports about this issue, I'm not sure that will happen.

Yep, I did a chat thing with them earlier and have an appointment booked at an Apple Store for later on today. They did some remote diagnostics and came back with:

"Upon checking, it looks like your iPhone has passed all the tests apart from: Presence Check for eSIM, Presence Check for Baseband & Cellular RF Front End Scan Test for Wireless."

I'd be surprised if they can fix that in store so hopefully they'll just replace it.

Little surprised at the outcome of that Apple Store visit. They checked it over and confirmed it was faulty but then said it had to be sent off to be checked out which will apparently take around 2 weeks. No offer of a replacement phone, just an offer of a loaner. I've had Apple replace devices for less serious issues than that in the past. Not particularly impressed.

i've held off on 17.6 and 17.6.1 as people are still reporting no mobile service since updating. Guess I will continue to wait until the issues go away, especially as I am abroad until the end of the month
My phone, work phone, and wife’s phone all updated without any issue.

Yeah my work phone and my own phone are fine. My wife’s phone did need replacing after updating though, but the replacement upgraded fine.

Her previous phone was a part brick - it couldn’t even recognise a SIM card anymore and even dealing *#06# (which should display IMEI on any phone) did absolutely nothing but the issue there seems to be different to what people are reporting - I’ve seen some people saying theirs worked after resetting network settings and others saying that theirs is a bit flaky and signal randomly dies. All very odd.
