*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

It's been a few weeks now and despite comparing them multiple times, yet again yesterday in tesco I still can't decide on a new 32 3G for £579 or save £120 and get a refurb iPad 2 32 3G :D

I just cannot make my mind up if the tiny screen difference to my eyes is worth an extra 120, if it was actually faster I'd have snapped it up but it wasn't in the apps I tested side by side.

I reckon the new new iPad will be out by the time I make my mind up :D

My mrs wouldn't mind an upgrade on hers as she wants face time for talking to her friends in the states. A 32gig immaculate iPad 1 with 4 months of warranty left has to be worth £150?

iPad 1 to 3 upgrade is a no brainer IMO. We have an iPad1 at work and I can't stand it - it's so slow!

I agree - if you have an iPad 1, and upgrade to the iPad 3 is the one to go for :)

I've seen a comparison of speed between all the iPads and the iPad 3 is definitely faster than the iPad 2. The average user might not notice it, but for me - I'd be going for latest iPad because... well it's the latest iPad :p

Veritgo mate, if you do a fair bit of reading or browsing the web you'll find it better to use the new screen since it really dooes flesh out some of the better websites like the verge. Also most new apps are compliant on the new screen so for that £120 your going to see much nicer looking stuff. From a future proof for the next 12 months point of view the new one is well worth it ;)

I have all 3 models at the moment and the 3 is a fraction slower than the 2

Think you might be talking the wrong person here - I already have an iPad 3 :)

faster?? maybe not for most instances, its pretty much the same, well i does have a lovely screen tho

Well the dual-core A5 1Ghz CPU in both the 2 and 3 are identical. The only differences are the quad-core versus dual-core graphics and 1GB versus 512MB of memory.

In things where memory was an issue then the 3 might be a bit faster than the 2. When it comes to graphics, it's not quite as clear cut. For graphics intensive things such as 3D rendering and games, if the limiting factor is the maths/geometry then the 3 would likely beat out the 2 by some margin, however bear in mind that it's pushing four times the number of pixels around with only twice the horsepower so fill-rate may well come into it.

I have to say that, on balance, I've noticed the 3 to be fractionally slower than the 2 on occasion. It's only now and then and usually when doing graphics operations like big screen transitions etc, suggesting a fill-rate limit with the sheer number of pixels that need pushing. Nothing major though.

Im pleased to say that camera on it is quite good :)

anyone wifi problems here 32gb wifi

reset restored nothing helped have to return now

You mean problems connecting to Wifi networks? Apparently this is a known issue with some Wifi-only models and Apple are aware of it - I'd take it to a store and get it replaced.

my brother has 3g model and here is the same

for example if iphone 4s has 3 signal bar ipad only 1

also everytime it needs password to enter after sleep to connect WiFi

i think i will just return this one too i fed up already

Is this on your own WiFi? Have you tested yours and your brother's iPads on a different WiFi network? Process of elimination - it might be the WiFi access point itself rather than the iPad, I know we've had all sorts of problems with a Netgear wireless AP at work which needs rebooting every now and then as nothing can connect.

I'm thinking of selling my transformer prime and getting this iPad. This will be my first iOS device. Main reasons for changing are apps mainly and games. Android lags behind in terms of content, especially games. Is watching HD movies good on the iPad(is the aspect ratio an issue?).
