I have to say it looks gorgeous, the technology inside is next level (Especially the faceid stuff) but I doubt I will be getting one.. I really cannot justify paying that much for a phone, especially when I have been looking at the Xaomi Mi Mix 2 that costs almost 1/3rd of the price.

I'd agree. Plus, given the display is a Samsung what differentiates the 10 from an S8, I'd say not much. In fact I think the S8 is a tad more attractive. Apple are hoping it will restore their flagging fortunes in the Chinese market, but at these prices I just can't see it.

The X should have been the 8. Forget all this thousand pound nonsense. The base X should be £699.

Apple suffers from diseconomies of scale. Samsung can't manufacture 300 million OLED displays for Apple a year. There's rumours that Apple can only manufacture tens of thousands of iPhone Xs per day (vs. ~1mil iPhones sold per day). The price tag is partially to discourage people from buying it.

£1k for a phone that you use for hours every day is stupidly high yet there are people on here who wouldn’t bat an eyelid spending that on a GPU, a lens or a camera.

The OS. I'm not saying iOS is perfect but it's a lot more fluid than Android, the apps are better and there are many reported bugs with the S8.

Yeah, with you on this. A device that we use all day, every day, for all sorts. My 1080Ti and 5960X are used a few times a week.

iOS is the reason I will not entertain anything else.

After owning several Android devices (both Google's own devices) and suffering from degrading performance by the end of my two years I will never touch Android again, 3 iPhones and after two years they are as snappy as the day I bought them.

So after sleeping on it, chances are I'll get the 8+

I think apple missed a trick here giving both the X and 8 similar specs such as the upgraded camera and wireless charging. The X is essentially an 8 without Touch ID and a better screen which I can understand will appeal to some, but what else can it do?

Face ID after a few iterations will end up becoming the new thing and people will look back and laugh at us having to unlock our phones with our fingers but currently, watching the demonstration, it seemed a lot slower than simply pulling your phone out of your pocket and bingo, it being unlocked in the process.

No doubt Apple has worked their magic on Face ID to make it a lot better than it's competitors but I just think back to my Note 7 and the number of time I tried to use Iris scanning and ended up looking at my phone for what felt like an eternity before giving up and just using my finger.

As has been posted, not being able to have a fingerprint scanner under the OLED screen plus increased security.

I dont know anyone with any phone who actually used the finger print stuff, other than the first 10 minutes of owning the phone.

Everyone has swipe patterns, a pin or nothing at all. Its nothing more than an expensive gimmick. :)

Really?

I set mine up day one and it's all I've used since, the convenience and simplicity of it is just brilliant. Not a gimmick to me at all.

Errr what?

TouchID is incredibly valuable with stuff like Apple Pay, logging into secure apps like banking or paypal etc. Instead of typing in all my login details I just use one fingerprint. It's much more secure than just swiping or a password.

Bizarre comment to make

Same, everyone I know with an iPhone uses Touch ID.

Perhaps iPhone owners should go and troll in Android threads?

For anyone who gets 30% discount through their employer with the likes of o2 does this work on standalone handsets or contracts only? My GF found out the other day she gets 30% off o2 for herself and up to 5 friends or family.

Lollllllllllllllll

When will the X go on display in Apple stores? I'd like to get hands on soon as possible and get an idea of size and weight compared to my current phone
