For those considering charging options...

I've gone for this collection...

Wireless stand: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074V3SJ9H/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Was £11.99 earlier....picked because it doesn't have loads of annoying lights on it like other stands seem to)

Charger: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01KTJ2BGW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Has QC 3.0 for wireless 'fast charge' (7.5w after software update) AND a 29w USB-C port for wired 'fast charge'

USB-C Lightning https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072Q9TVD8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just the cheapest cable I could find.

All together this should give me wired & wireless 'fast charge' from a single plug, for about £36 :).

Cheers for that ;0

I can see pluses and minuses with both systems. In the car for example I'm concerned that with Face ID when I want to unlock my phone in it's cradle, it won't work without me looking at it.

I've seen one reviewer ask the same question and theirs worked but I guess it also depends on the distance to your cradle as well.

The QC port will be used by the Wireless Stand, which requires QC3.0 to supply 15w. I know the iPhone only does up to 7.5w but I thought I'd get it right first time incase next year they bump it up to proper Qi Fast Charge :)
Ah gotcha, makes sense...

It will be brilliant, and people will have to learn to accept it as next year, the follow up for the 8, 8S most likely, will ditch Touch ID too and have Face ID built in. Touch ID is effectively dead, I'm sure Apple would have loved to have put Face ID on the 8, but while it's such an expensive set of components, it could only go on the X. Come next year when manufacturing has matured on it, it will be in every iPhone

I'm not so sure there will be an 8s.

I've always believed that they skipped the 9 and jumped straight to the X in order to give them some space to launch another 6/7/8 variant if they had too depending on how well the X did and how well the features worked.

They cannot go back and call the next gen X the 9 as that would just confuse matters.

Well rang cpw to check on my order still being on for the 4th. Seems not and I was told the 10th for me.

Order now cancelled, looks like im waiting another week or two for my apple order.

Oh well

There's a theme to your posts...

It's almost like some people really can't stand others liking Apple products. Never once have I been in an Android threat to whine about the handsets. But it's quite common to see it the other way aroud.

You might want to check the charger. Some reviews are saying it doesn't work with iO devices. But it could be down to the cable they use

Lol you might be right, what a minefield. Feels like a step back from the USB-A days! Can't find anything on the market that has a QC3.0 port AND a USB-C PD port :(.

OK I give up, there aren't any adapters that have both USB-C PD3.0 and USB-A QC 3.0. Will just get a QC 3.0 for the Qi pad and then stick with my 19w iPad charger for 'fast-ish' charging.

That's about double what I expected. That would mean £199 over here

It should charge all the products while on your person anywhere in the room for that price.

I cracked open the box for my screen protector to have a look at the guide for installing it.

Turns out it fits over my 7 quite nicely and gives you a good indication of the size of the new screen compared to an existing 4.7" device.

The screen protector is supposed to line up perfectly with the 4 inset edges. Looks like a pretty nice jump in pixels for essentially the same body size.

I have ordered the Apple 29w charger and Apple USB-C Lightning cable for fast charging. 50% in 30 mins is gonna be great.

That’s what I ended up buying for my 12” iPad. Thankfully the lightning to USB-C cables are a lot chunkier and less flimsy-feeling than the bog standard lightning to USB cables.
