*** The Official macOS Sonoma thread ***

I use BetterDisplay for this, which also lets you run HiDpi.

Still pretty ridiculous that you need extensions for so many basic features on macOS.
Just downloaded BetterDisplay, and although it sort of works, it's not working well with my setup. eqMac was a much better solution.. Hope they can fix it :(

I agree, such a stupid limitation that you can't do this from basic OS.

MacOS Mail is buggy as hell. Half the time the sidebar, which is the email folders tree doesn't render or clicking on an email doesn't highlight that email but it is selected.

Quitting and restarting mail fixes it temporarily.

Not noticing a huge difference other than bluetooth devices connecting instantly when coming out of sleep so no waiting for a bluetooth keyboard to work. Also finally remembers my monitor locations crazy how long that bug had been going on for.

Disaster on my end. I installed Sonoma on my work mac before the IT department could block it via policy. The VPN no longer connects and the WiFi connection keeps dropping at the office. They're shipping out a backup for use until they fix the bugs.

Whoopsie! I'm in our early adopters programme and I haven't had any issues on my work Mac so far.

we got an email saying its untested, install at your own risk.. if it breaks you'll get it wiped haha.. so I went up to 13.6 and left it there for now.

If only Apple published betas and an RC so teams could test their software on it.
Which would be fine if Apple's QC was consistent but here we are, deploying policies to prevent launch-day upgrades ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

P.s - Not to say other OS's don't suffer from this but i would argue Apple was a lot, lot better at it years ago when they weren't under pressure to stick out a yearly release because 'shiny shiny' - it's why some of the features won't be added until .1.

The RC was out for over a week before the official release though, and RC2 IIRC was only minor changes and nothing functional.

Usually for work stuff I wait until the first patch is out, but this year I went YOLO, luckily everything works.

Notifications are doing my head in. My Mac is pinging away when the Mac is sleeping or screen off, this is despite checking the notifications and having them all switched off.

I might hold fire on upgrading the 6x iMacs at work for now.

Has anybody had to roll back to 13.6 yet?

Sensible IT department. Assuming they're testing company apps etc on it first?
Yeah, we dont have too much company specific stuff just some home brewed management software and a vpn, the rest is up to us what we use, but I agree, if everyone updated and the vpn didnt work for example it would be a pretty bad time

How are people finding the Photos app? It seems utterly terrible, and I'm not sure if that's been the case for some time or something new.

For example, if I create a new album then drag in a load of high res photos I get ZERO notification/feedback/UI elements to say that it's importing the Photos. Then some random time later they'll all appear.

Noticed an issue that must be Sonoma focused as I never had it before.

I use a Finder replacement called Pathfinder. If I select a file (on local storage or network) and press delete (not backspace) the file doesn't delete. If I try the same in finder the same happens, but delete works as intended out of these apps say if I highlight a block of text. Pressing Command and Delete also doesn't work. Right clicking said file and selecting Move to Bin works.

My MX Keys keyboard is upto date firmware wise but it seems Sonoma isn't fully utilising the keyboard properly or something. I've opened a ticket with the Pathfinder devs but have yet to update them with these findings.
