***The Official Manly Shaving Thread***

I ordered an iKon Stainless Slant head today, it will probably take a couple of weeks to arrive.

If i prefer the shave with that to my 37c, the 37c will be sold on with my 34c and R41 '13 shortly.

I prefer my Fatip to the R41 and my Weber DLC and Weber Polished make the 34c redundant.

Got a Gillette Superspeed/fatboy/slim adjustable you'd like to sell me? :D

Sorry, i'm keeping all my vintage razors for the time being :D

I know everyone is different, but i'd skip the fatboy and slim and just buy a Merkur Progress (short), that is a much nicer shave IMO.

Actually i'd skip the Progress and go straight to a Digress or Mergress, haha!

I'm tempted to have my Progress upgraded to a Digress at some point.

the 34c isnt aggresive enough for me, it really is too forgiving. I cut myself with the muhle r41 last friday by underestimating the beast

I know what you mean, although i get a good shave with all my razors, with some i don't need to concentrate at all during the shave, others need respect.

Hmm, interdasting. Much to ponder!! Darn you :D

haha, there are so many to try!

Superspeed wise my favourites are an English Red Tip Rocket/Superspeed (Rocket below covered in soap scum) and an English HD500 Rocket (also called a #59 in a different case). They all have a nice weight and are nice quick shavers.

I used this stuff tonight (green bottle = Skin Bracer, clear bottle = Witch Hazel)

Nice! Those de-cantered bottles look brilliant. Where did the clear one come from?

Why not go straight to a Vision? Did anyone get one in the Mankind sale? Missed out on that one. :(

The silver cap one is a Speick splash bottle, the green cap one is a Proraso splash bottle. I use a printer ink refill syringe to fill them, so no spillage.

My 3x Floid aftershaves live in these splash bottles (Clicky), the cashier probably though i was mental buying 3, but i emptied them at the end of the garden. No Foxes for a few days!

I dont like the look of the Vision, the head looks too big to me. sizes

I think the slant is to allow the user to get a really close shave when he wants it?

Ingram is the business in this weather.

(old pic)

Pros:
Natural ingredients.
Big menthol kick.
One of the best for post shave feel, probably down to the lanolin.
Made in Surrey.
Fairly cheap. £1.75p from superdrug
Light old school scent. (menthol with a touch of lemon, think Proraso without the eucalyptus)

Cons:
Prone to separation, possibly a due to a lack of heavy emulsifier/surfactant. Give it a shake and the water mixes back in easily enough.
A bit harder to lather than creams/soaps containing foaming detergents, especially with hard water, but get the water/cream ratio right and it's very good.
Amount of cream needed, which is almost double something like Palmolive/RS. (Who cares! It's cheap enough :p)

Conclusion:
A national treasure, try it out now! (unless you hate menthol :p)

Tried this recently. Great price. I don't like the smell though - it's a bit swimming pooly; gets up my nose a bit. But it leaves the skin feeling very fresh and it's definitely worth a try.

Also, the thread title still needs changing!

What difference does a slanted blade make?

It gives the blade a scything action due to the angle and the twist on the blade.

They are very efficient razors but also mild, just a different type of shave to the solid bar and open comb razors really. Normally favoured by people with a heavy beard but sensitive skin.

I wanted a 3 piece head so i could use it on my heavy handles.

My 34c HD, 37c and Weber Wave stainless handle are currently up for sale on the shaving room.
