The Official Microsoft Flight Thread

If there was an "add-on" marketplace, it would almost definitely go through Games For Windows Live marketplace which is terrible.

Those comparison screenies, it would be interesting to see a modded FSX, sure I know a modded FLIGHT would look better in theory.

Comparison screenies mean squat, we all remember the so called DX10 (or was it 11?) FSX screenshots too...

Yea Im aware we shouldnt take these shots as gospel but they are interesting. I hope the engine is vastly improved though. Right now it doesnt look like something brand new.
Wonder what airplanes they will have for this!

How about Microsoft having 50 000 real planes in the air all the time with cameras for this, so that we can all fly Google Maps style?

On the other hand after my experiences with FSX, I can only hope that the new team makes a better job of it. I've had enough of having to descide between a slide show or graphics that are just not worth bothering with.

My only gripe with FSX with my limited experience of it is the rather tame flight model.

Compared to say the DCS games its not even in the same league, but I think fs is more about the spirit of flying and making it accessible to everyone rather than bogging you down with intricate details.

I'd say this will be very near the end of the year. Have a mate in MS in states who is into flying but he pretends he knows nothing about MS Flight!

I hope the new 737 NGX is ported to whatever the new platform is. Let's hope it's a brilliant product.

I cannot wait for this. FSX is starting to irritate me with its poor performance. I really hope this is better optimised?

Only just got fsx, I never thought it would be the type of game for me, I thought I would find it dull.

But I'm LOVING it, already got traffic x and ground environment europe expansions and going to get battle of britain 70th anniversary next.

Almost managed to land a boeing today but screwed up the final approach! Performance is quite good on my spec @ 3.4ghz so chuffed with that.

I dont think I'll ever take it as seriously as those vat sim guys, I'm more about just enjoying the view. Favourite plane - orbit airlines bombardier.

The quality of the expansions seem excellent, the two I have I now deem essential to my experience.

I've only experienced poor performance at heathrow, it chugs a bit but I'm not bothered as rarely does the game get that busy. Otherwise its silky smooth.

Those images look stunning a lot better than the default FSX scenery, i wonder if the Rex team will be looking into this for their next project? as you noticed that when fly past a cloud it would rotate with the plane, due to limitations of FSX, hopefully microsoft will require assistance from the Rex Developers and create 3d clouds with shadows, that would be a tissue moment.

There are some questioning whether MS Flight will cover the whole world or not. There is seriously little info in the FAQ.

I am also hoping that this isn't a dumbed down flight simulator which is more aimed at fun rather than realism.

I love my FSX with all the gubbins, but the best thing about MS Flight will hopefully be good use of modern hardware as Mr Krugga said. Eg all CPUS and Cores, multi GPU, even offloading processes to other computers etc.
