*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

Wow upto 9hr battery life. Can't wait to see some testing.
If that could do 9hrs on web/video that would be great. Obviously when you stress CPU, it'll decrease significantly.

Edit. Just seen this.

[5] Up to 9 hours of battery life for video playback. Battery life for other uses will vary.

If that holds upto testing that is amazing. How much screen will you lose to black bars. That's why I love the 16:9 aspect. Utilise all screen space. What will the 12" 3:2 effective screen size be.

You lose screen to black bars on 16:9 if you watch Blu-rays most of the time though (Hence why I now have a 21:9 Asus screen)

But the battery life seems very good. The i3 variant with a touch pad should either be 620-680. That will very easily take place of a tablet or a laptop.

Either way, they've thrown a curveball to their existing line up.

They seem to have made a real hash of the comparison with a MacBook Pro on their Microsoft store page.

They have listed the weight as 1.79kg instead of 0.79kg, and imply OSX does not support multiple user accounts...

I agree that RT and windows will merge. I think this will happen now. All I am saying is there a market for 10.6 inch pro tablet when there is a 12 inch offering. I just don't see enough of a differentiation for them to bother.

But theres enough difference between the 11 and 13 inch macbook air?
I want full fat win8.1 on a mini, a 10" for mobile users and a 12 for the people that a 10" is too small for. I can also see a need for rt systems as well even if they are no use to me...

Also not a fan of them changing the power connector, basically if you have the Pro or Pro 2 you need to change bits to suit...

The connector on the Pro & Pro 2 was annoying and chipped the paint.

It was improved on the Surface 2 a bit, but not transferred to the pro line.

So what happens with the SP2 line? Have these technically been replaced? Do they keeping making and selling them? And chance I'm going to get a good deal on one lol,?

Lmao that comparison with the MacBook Pro is hilarious. They might as well have had a column for "Is a Microsoft Surface" to give them an extra box to tick.

They also seem to have forgotten that they are responsible for the hilarity that is Office for Mac.
