Anyone know if the i7 is dual or quad core?

Dual with hyper-threading. It's basically the same as the i5 with a meg more cache and slightly higher clock speed. Is it worth the extra $100+ on the bare CPU price? Personally I don't think so.

The majority of i7 quad core parts are 35/45W. The smallest lightest laptop you'll typically find them in is the 15" MacBook Pro.

Depends on the exact model. You can get the HD5000 in both, The Iris Pro is i7 only.

Here's how the processor models break down per product edition:

Entry-level. The entry level Surface Pro 3 model offers a dual-core Intel Core i3 4020Y processor with Intel HD Graphics 4200. It offers a clock speed of 1.5 GHz.

Mid-level. The two mid-level Surface Pro 3 models both offer the same dual-core Intel Core i5-4300U processor with Intel HD Graphics 4400. It offers a base speed of 1.6 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 2.9 GHz.

High-end. The two high-end Surface Pro 3 models both offer the same Intel Core i7-4650U processor with with Intel HD Graphics 5000. It offers a base speed of 1.7 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 3.3 GHz.

I want to know whats happening with the dock for the Pro 2, especially as they have redesigned where ports are on the Pro3, that and the redesigned Surface pages on the MS site, to me it looks like there is the Surface 2 and the Pro 3, anything else is clearance, I want my dock damn it, I was told it was coming several times but nothing and now the Pro 3 is here I'm feeling a bit screwed over on a device thats not really that old...

If you want and SP2 dock just get one from ebay. There are a few sellers and a couple have decent prices. It actually arrived quicker than the SP2 from Microsoft!
We got one this way at work. Fully compatible with UK SP2. Just need a power cord for the adaptor.
