*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

You'll be waiting a while, unless that's your point.
Bbc said they won't be doing one. But this will probably change if sales are strong.

No, I want to move but move. However, the only app I really use is the Sky Go when I am out and about or away for work. TBH It's not the end of the world though.

Thursday 25th of October is the day:

Nice, but I hope they announce price and availability for the UK before the 25th seeing as they have only said they will be selling them via Microsoft stores, that's all well and good except we don't have ANY Microsoft stores in the UK, unless they just plan to sell them on the online Microsoft store here.

This really. Biggest tech letdown of the year for me if it's a US only launch.

Yay but boo, why so late.

More and more interested n getting an x86 ne first, then if needed due to weight/battery an arm later on.

Im the other way round - the pro version appeals, but then I think with an i5 inside, I will have the same problems that I have now, mainly too much heat to get rid of and battery life

The RT then appears attractive..

Is it right to think that the market is just going to be blasted with w8 everything at the same time.

So we are looking at a same date or roughly same date, for
W8, W8 RT - Pro coming a few months later and WP8?

That's a hell of a launch to bring that all together, must be a crazy amount of teams working on all of them.

I'll also add this, and someone can tell me how far off the mark I am in thinking this is doable.
I'm thinking all I do on the pC really is usual web email stuff, but work as a Graphic designer ( mostly in photoshop, CS5 and the like)
Whats really stopping me from when an i5 Surface pro comes out, being able to sell up my tablets, current PC and using it as a main rig for those kind of tasks, maybe with some short HD Video editing once in a while?
Is it that crazy?..what possible restrictions say in terms of Ram could their me?
I can help but picture a neat doc with my audio usb and Screen etc built into it when I want to work at my desk, and being able to take it about with me as a regular tablet!
Would I be asking to much off it?

Can anyone link to an actual Microsoft announcement about Surface release dates? It just seems like the original speculation is being repeated everywhere as fact.

Prob won't be buying a Surface to be honest - since it was unveiled, OEMs appear to have stepped it up a gear. There'll be very capable Win8 tablets out months before the Surface, so why wait?

I hope they get the pricing on this.
Personally think that while it'll be an immense product, they can't price it for what it's worth due to their utter lack of market share and app support that iOS and Android has.

Microsoft broke into the console market by taking a loss on the first Xbox, but they managed to break into the market to give them the strength they have today with the Xbox 360.

Also hope they get priced quickly and available on the 26th in the UK, it's killing me not to order a tablet already.

The RT looks to be out very shortly after Windows 8, where are you getting this months before Surface?

My thinking exactly. MS showed everyone what they were planning early on, then are going to miss their own launch date.
