*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

I am not a collector either. All physical media has either been sold or given to charity shops over the last few years. We’ve been offloading books too for the last couple of weeks. If I do pick up any Switch games on cart - which is unlikely - I will sell them on afterwards.

Odd question time. Are there any games that can be played by just the movement of the controller? No button presses. Something really simple.

I think the new Street Fighter game can be. Mario Party Jamboree probably as well. I think there will be quite a few.

Vampire Survivors - ok, well you press a button sometimes eg. to start a game, select a skill etc but 99% of the game is just moving your character on the screen with the joystick.

And here's me with thousands of books, literally, and dozens of Switch cartridges :D To be fair, I've stopped picking up PS5 discs and sold off quite a lot of my PS4 titles.

Folks, whats the difference between buying the Switch 1 version of TotK and using the Family/expansion subscription to access the Switch 2 version.
Or alternatively buying the Switch 2 version?

I would be grateful if anyone could clarify this. Thanks in advance.

None. Other than the fact that if you cancel your subscription you would lose access to the Switch 2 upgrade which allows for higher resolution/performance.

Thanks for the clarification I appreciate it.
So then whats the point of someone buying the Switch 2 version when they can buy the Switch 1 version for cheaper with the 9.99 pass?

E: just another question, do I need my old Switch in order to transfer to the Switch 2?
Ive been trying to find a guide online but nothing so far.

There is no point especially if you can buy the Switch 1 version 2nd hand or at a discount.

As for transfer : unknown at this point. However, if it's anything like the original Switch and transerring saves/data to a V2, OLED or Lite version then it's probably safer to hold on to your Switch 1 to keep your options open. An added complication is that the Switch 2 uses Micro SD Express cards ( Switch 1 uses Micro SD - so previously you could take the card out of your "old" Switch 1 and install it into a "new" Switch 1 console to transfer data ). Of course, if you have a Nintendo Online subscription, in theory all your saves should be saved to the cloud, but not all Switch games are compatible with the cloud. I'm holding on to my original Switch, then I'll sell it after I transfer data to my Switch 2 console.

Yeah I was kind of wondering about the save stuff (given I've just sold the Switch 1) but I don't think I've anything significant enough saved for me to miss if its not stored online.

I saw there are no analogue triggers on this. On one hand I think whatever, not had before, but then I also think they are useful in a lot of games. Racing games would be one such example. Guess they had to pull a Nintendo somewhere or other.

Presumably the fact it’s running natively rather than though a translation layer is why it gets better performance?

Nvidia’s better DLSS implementation probably helps also.
