No 3G contracts, all 4g despite most people not having a chance of connecting to it and even if they live in the area then as soon as they leave the city they can't get 4g, advertised it for streaming video, but then don't have the limits to do it.

Seem to be forcing or at least bullying people off orange/t-mobile and on to EE contracts.

Yup, its all very wrong. IMO

Hopefully someone at Nokia can soon see sense and break the "exclusive" contract.

I for one am not going to sign up for a new contract. I live in London and 3G sux, let alone 4G!

I'm going to hit the town one of these days and try and find one of these sim free and can be used on Voda. ;)

That's my plan, ill report back once I get the call from P4U to see If it works or not.

Did you say you'll be getting yours by Friday, a Yellow one? You ordered it without a contract, just the device?

Did they let you choose any colour?? :o Tottenham Court Road branch?

Yellow or White for me...! That is all and must be sim-free!

Yes, I have ordered a Yellow one from Tottenham Court. I can scan the receipt if required.

The thing that I find confusing and maybe where the confusion lays. Black and White handsets are being sold by EE, so these may be locked. However, the rest of the colour range surely as they are not provided by EE how can they be locked? This is my thinking behind it.

Yea....two months of bugger all sales in teh Uk should help that notion.

Agreed! Hopefully they seen sense soon. However, I remember the Nokia Lumia 800 Cyan release was some what of a hassle and then a few months later it blew over.

Phones 4 U site has contract deals on there now, no mention of SIM free or non 4G though

eg.

http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_contract_details.asp?ItemKey=650616#offer_details

As I have said before, when I have spoke to them over the phone they only where offering contracts and payg packaged deals. I also noticed they they are only offering it in Black and White, which also may go to prove my point that the Yellow and Red handset should be coming directly from Nokia and should be "sim free". Also as pointed out a number of posts up the "sim free" handsets seem to support 2 different networks on which would should be a good indication of them being sim unlocked handsets.

I am going to be testing the handset before I walk away from the store, otherwise I will be getting a refund (deposit) on it.

A quick check would be to power up the phone without a SIM inserted.
For a locked phone you should get 3 boot screens (network provider -> phone manufacturer -> windows phone logo), but for an unlocked phone it should just be 2 boot screens (phone manufacturer -> windows phone logo).

Yup. I know that one. :D

I don't want to be negative BUT I wouldn't trust anything Phones4u tells you as they are the worst kind of salesmen - they have no idea what they are selling and just tell you what you want to hear.

I am not saying that it is locked but I wouldn't be sure about what they told you, and expect to have issues. If you walk away with an unlocked phone on Friday then I am sure lots of us will be down to P4U to get them for ourselves.

I agree. I never trust sales people in phone shops or sales people in general, so I am going to find out for myself. :D

As long as phone it good on Friday, I will post a load of sample images as well as if I can run my Vodafone sim in it.

Hmmmm. What's left to choose from? Nexus 4 meh... well its android and I can't see the camera being better, the SGS3 (android again) its too plasticity for me but the camera is pretty good or the iP5 which seems to be good but I don't like the static rows of icons.
